Title: Re: private messages Post by: Heid on November 18, 2005, 07:38:31 PM not mods but admins can apparently, why? got something to hide? My message count is wrong and has been for ages, doesn't hurt tho!! IFM try the shift and f5 trick on your message page :) I don't think admins can either, but as I'm not one, I couldn't tell you for sure :) Title: Re: private messages Post by: ifm on November 18, 2005, 07:42:20 PM shift f5 does nothing ???
maybe my function keys are disabled? Tikay said that the site owners could once, so i assumed that meant admins (maybe not iron) as they are the owners/shareholders. Title: Re: private messages Post by: Nem on November 18, 2005, 07:43:13 PM CTRL+F5

I did mention it to Iron once because i thought it might be a symptom of a bigger problem. I'll mention it to him again :) Heid xx Title: Re: private messages Post by: tikay on November 18, 2005, 10:03:06 PM This needs nailing.
Nobody except YOU can read YOUR PM's. Simple as that. The "owners" - by which I assume it is meant "shareholders" can NOT read any PM's except their own. All the shareholders have "Administrator" status, plus one other - Ironside. Plus there are currently 6 Moderators. ifm says I once told him that "the owners" can read other peoples PM's. I never said that. I have no idea how that misunderstanding has arisen, presumably my note to ifm was badly worded, or ifm read something into it that was not there. So, lets be quite clear about this. Unless you let someone else have your Password, the Member is the ONLY person on earth who has access to their own PM's. If anyone is unclear on this, please post in this thread, or drop me a PM. Title: Re: private messages Post by: The_nun on November 18, 2005, 10:09:24 PM PM to Tikay..So we are safe then Tony in our affair.........thank goodness for that ..thought the whole blonde
site was onto us for a minute then. Same place tomrrow night ..xx Title: Re: private messages Post by: suzanne on November 18, 2005, 10:13:07 PM PHEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! 0:-)
Title: Re: private messages Post by: Decider on November 18, 2005, 10:15:29 PM Of course, the developer could always get the data from the Database directly. But that's a bit of work for the privilege of reading other folks PM's.
Title: Re: private messages Post by: tikay on November 18, 2005, 10:56:32 PM Hush now The nun. Don't want Chili getting alll jealous on me.
But I once used the Internet Cafe sat Gutshot to do some Forum stuff & forgot to Log Out, I never log off at home, & someone logged onto blonde Forum & found themselves logged in as tikay! Never again! And in Amsterdam, Thewy & me shared the same hotel, which had a single computer for use of Guests. I logged onto blonde, & found Thewy had left himself logged in. So I had to read his PM's, & who'd have thought it, he's got summat going off with Cochester Kiv. I did always say he was a shade iffeminite. But seriously, BE CAREFUL, that's the only way you can ever access someone else's PM. As for the post by "Decider", well, is that, in practical terms, a matter of concern? I just don't understand the technicalities of what he's saying,(who is "the developer"?) but if it IS a problem, well tell us, please. Title: Re: private messages Post by: tikay on November 18, 2005, 11:45:03 PM ifm has kindly sent me a link to the Post I made whch caused some misunderstanding. For the avoidance of doubt, simply add
"...of the Password" to the end of the Post....! And it would help if I added the link...... http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=2321.msg58254#msg58254 Title: Re: private messages Post by: Heid on November 18, 2005, 11:49:43 PM I think Decider meant that the person who built the software that the forum runs on, could possibly have access to PMs... but why would they want to?
Other people's messages are no fun, they can't be half as much fun as mine :) Heid xx |
