Coventry - 1 year - sacked QPR - 6 months (nearly) - sacked. One decent season with Palace and the guy is given jobs left, right and centre!!!! He must have made a fair few bob out of it IMO. Have to say that he seems to have been harshly treated on this occasion though. Title: Re: Dowie says goodbye to QPR. He was lucky in a way that he took over a team in a false position near the bottom of the table, and had players like Andy Johnson, Wayne Routledge and Julian Gray who were outstanding Championship players at the time. What he achieved in his first season was amazing, but i felt in the Premiership he didnt have the tactical ability that was required and a lot of his signings were dubious to say the least. Saying that i liked him as a manager, but he shit on the club in the end, so will never be remembered for what he achieved which is a shame. I think his level is League 1, where he could get an average team to perform above their capabilities with his enthusiasm for the game. I just dont think he is a good enough manager to handle bigger names and better players. Title: Re: Dowie says goodbye to QPR. teams soon stopped playing for him, and this fed back to the boardrooms Title: Re: Dowie says goodbye to QPR. Post by: TheChipPrince on October 24, 2008, 01:58:21 PM Just another ''foreign owner demands instant success'' syndrome case...

Post by: gatso on October 24, 2008, 01:58:54 PM he shit on the club in the end lol, him doing this to you is the only thing we still like about him. said he wanted to move back north and true to his word moved from selhurst to the valley, about a mile north think you're right about him being out of his depth at the higher levels but he obviously has some ability, what he managed in his first season at palace was nothing short of miraculous. definitely has problems with making signings too, some odd ones for you and he had the biggest ever transfer budget given to a charlton manager and failed with that. probably why he wasn't given money at qpr Title: Re: Dowie says goodbye to QPR. When he left us we had just been knocked out of the play-offs - 2 years later and we have just suffered the same fate. When he joined you you were an established Premiership club - now you look as though you are capable of dropping into League 1. Title: Re: Dowie says goodbye to QPR. Post by: Chompy on October 27, 2008, 09:42:26 PM Surprised he's still been getting work after all that bully boy stuff. Think he'll have to lower his sights now.
PS, QPR, hands off Fergie Jnr, you can't have him, he's going nowhere. |
