Title: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: turny on October 29, 2008, 02:29:41 AM just stumbled across this whilst searching the net
http://www.foxpokerclub.com/holding/membership.asp says the gaming commission have already issued their license anyone know anything about the place? Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: dik9 on October 29, 2008, 02:37:37 AM I believe they have applied for licenses in Birmingham and Bournemouth also. Not quite the same as DTD, DTD has a casino license (pre 2005 act), I believe (I may be wrong) that they are trialling a poker only license.

Post by: Bongo on October 29, 2008, 02:45:17 AM Their logo reminded me of gala's for some reason!
Looks like they'll be charging a membership fee - might be tough for them to be successful doing that! Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: dik9 on October 29, 2008, 02:47:13 AM Yes and no, they have gone through the correct channels AFAIK and so have encountered a lot of red tape. This isn't the latest "let's pull the wool over the GC eyes and have a gaming permit and use pool, chess and fishing etc to cover up poker" . DTD was one of the last pre 2005 act and I think that the Fox Club is the equivalent that complies with the latest act.
Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: Colchester Kev on October 29, 2008, 02:47:58 AM "Fox Poker Club, a private company which can name Barney Boatman, Joe Beevers and Phil Laak amongst its shareholders"
Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: lazaroonie on October 29, 2008, 08:39:16 AM cant imagine that getting a central london location and kitting it out will be very good for the overheads. Also it says it will be open at the start of next year, but no details of exact location or building progress ?
curious. Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: lazaroonie on October 29, 2008, 08:49:20 AM interesting that the domain name was registered to "betting and gaming services ltd", which companies house reliably tells us was dissolved in april 2008 without ever having submitted accounts.
a search for fox poker doesnt return any matching companies. edit : "betting and gaming services ltd" was registered at 45 clarges street (just off picadilly). which just so happens to be next door to the fox private members club. I can only assume they have bought the place next door and that will be the clubs location. anyone around that area of mayfair ? would be interested to see what is going on. Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: AndrewT on October 29, 2008, 09:34:22 AM There's been talk of the Fox Poker club for years - I'll believe it when I see it open.

I remember signing up for their email updates years ago Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: phatomch on October 29, 2008, 02:07:28 PM from what ive heard they are opening in feb 09, they had probs with the property that was going to be used, they have been given permission for a full casino stylee licence by the westminster council / gb.
so it will be 100% legal, also they will be sourching management positions in Dec 08 and the word on the grapevine is that a extremly nice and capable fat guy in a suit may be filling one of the offered spots if all goes to plan. Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: turny on October 29, 2008, 02:09:27 PM so a full casino license or the poker only trial license that dik9 mentioned earlier in the thread?
Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: Claw75 on October 29, 2008, 02:13:01 PM I just signed up for email updates. The confirmation message i got said opening in 'early spring 2009'

Not necessarily.....Benetton for example kept a good corporate image Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: Royal Flush on October 29, 2008, 03:34:41 PM Something bad happens in DTD London for example, it would be discussed online and make DTD look bad, can't see Rob wanting that to happen.

Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london??? Post by: robyong on November 04, 2008, 03:17:53 AM The Fox Poker club guys came up to see me and I gave them what help I could although they have some very professional ex-gaming people in their board of directors and seemed to have all of the bases covered.
More DTD's / franchise DTD? - I don't think I could ever be persuaded to open/franchise another poker club - it was once in a lifetime experience for me! Cheers Rob Title: Re: a new "DTD" in london???
