Title: Gala question Post by: snoopy1239 on May 19, 2005, 09:54:59 AM Does any1 know what the comp at the Gala, Notts is on Sunday 29th May? Cheers.
Also, is there a schedule for the Gala anywhere on the net. :D Title: Re: Gala question Post by: redsimon on May 19, 2005, 05:23:51 PM I understand it is a 250 +25 NLHE freezeout 10K chips Two dayer. there was a thread on it a few weeks ago....
Title: Re: Gala question Post by: snoopy1239 on May 19, 2005, 06:03:07 PM Cheers Simon. Do you reckon I'll have to register in advance or will it be okay to turn up on the day?
Title: Re: Gala question Post by: Ironside on May 19, 2005, 06:05:43 PM lets see there 100 rebuy monthly event has a list of replacments as long as the M25 tailback on a day day
so i guess the 250 freezeout might be slightly over sold Title: Re: Gala question Post by: redsimon on May 19, 2005, 07:02:44 PM It will likely sell out as its on a bank holiday weekend. The only "spolier" is that Owlerton has a festival in the week before so that could stretch some players budgets. To be sure I think I'll pop down and sign up as it looks a good format.
Title: Re: Gala question Post by: The Truth on May 20, 2005, 07:03:12 AM If you cant get in or you crash out on the first day you could always pop down to the GUTSHOT for the P4C event.
Title: Re: Gala question Post by: redsimon on May 21, 2005, 08:17:48 AM Went down Gala Last night. they have had a "steady" stream of people buying in in advance. Capacity is limited to 121 and it will be close to a sell out. If you definitely want to play it will be best to pop in before next weekend.

Yes but its a two hour round trip for me and they dont let you do it by debit card, though god knows why, and they wont let someone put you in, not easy is it? Title: Re: Gala question Post by: Karabiner on May 23, 2005, 11:19:40 AM Unless there has been a very recent unpublicised change of policy,
you should be able to get someone to put you in. One of my pet gripes, so don't get me started ;) Title: Re: Gala question Post by: RED-DOG on May 23, 2005, 11:22:19 AM there must have been change of policy, someone kindly offerd to put me in and they wouldnt let him, and he's a big hitter at notts, and elsewhere I might add
Title: Re: Gala question Post by: Karabiner on May 23, 2005, 11:57:49 AM Sheffield have a system where you can send a cheque to the cardroom supervisor (Craig).
This secures your seat, and when you arrive you then produce your debit card. Maybe since they have taken the original lead from Sheffield not allowing others to buy you in, they will also allow this method too. Title: Re: Gala question Post by: snoopy1239 on May 24, 2005, 06:35:21 PM I'm considering entering the 250 at Notts?
Does any1 know how many (if any) places are left? Also, have we discovered whether or not someone can buy-in for you? Cheers all. Title: Re: Gala question Post by: RED-DOG on May 24, 2005, 06:39:35 PM no they cant buy you in, someone tried for me, and sheffield told me they no longer accept checques, I dont know what they expect you to do now, perhaps they want locals only
Title: Re: Gala question Post by: The Truth on May 24, 2005, 07:12:38 PM RED-DOG come to London on bank holiday monday instead ::) for the poker4charity bash. SERIOUSLY if anyone is interested have a room with three single beds at the travel lodge on the monday night FREE to a good home. This is on top of the FREE FOOD at the GUTSHOT and $25 into an EMPIREPOKER account.
Title: Re: Gala question Post by: snoopy1239 on May 24, 2005, 08:08:47 PM What a pain. Suppose it's only about 90 mins for me, but I have a m8 in Cambridge who wants to play.
Seems silly. Might go up the night be4 and hope it's not full. Title: Re: Gala question Post by: Junior Senior on May 24, 2005, 08:43:28 PM I bought in last Sunday (one week in advance) and they had sold 15 seats. - Not sure how many they have sold now but i presume it will sell out - but probably not til the day so why not just get there about 6 o clock and buy in, have some dinner, watch the box, have a drink and all that.
And you definitely can't buy someone else in Title: Re: Gala question Post by: redsimon on May 24, 2005, 08:45:08 PM You should be Ok Snoopy, just be wary of turning up at 8.45pm on sunday and expecting to be guaranteed to get in. The place is rammed and jammed nowadays...
