Title: Spewy, or just about acceptable? Post by: Cf on November 06, 2008, 01:46:35 PM Cash game at ALEA, £1/£2 blinds. Playing 5 handed.
Hero has about £200 Villian has £60 UTG fols CO calls Hero calls with 76o on button Villian completes SB BB checks Pot: £8 Flop: 734 (2 diamonds) Villian bets £8 2 folds Hero raises to £22 Villian goes all in for £58 Hero ?? Can we call here? Villian is quite LAG. I'm usually TAG but have been playing quite LAG myself seeing as we're 5 handed. The last time I raised the villian on the flop I did so with a flush draw, which I then hit. Apart from that my raises have generally been taking pots down. Title: Re: Spewy, or just about acceptable? Post by: MC on November 06, 2008, 03:12:46 PM 1st off fold or raise preflop
£36 to call for pot of £86 if I've worked that out right? Problem is you're unlikely to have 9 clean outs cos a better 7 very possible here. But possibility of the flush draw and such make this a call I think... Title: Re: Spewy, or just about acceptable? Post by: GreekStein on November 06, 2008, 05:03:59 PM I'll elaborate from before as I only had a second to post. Opp is sitting with £60...in a live cash game this is a sign of someone who is a) losing (therefore possibly on tilt) b) a donk or c) sitting short to gamble/spin up. Most decent players will have a full stack in front of them.
The pot is now laying u a good enough price to call even if he was to be holding A7 or a marginally better holding like 88. You still have sufficient outs against 34 type hands but he would make this move with flush draws, hands like 52,35,36,45,46. Do you think he's even laying down 75, 72 etc? Obv occasionally he will show up with a set and 56 though its live poker sometimes two 'pretty looking' overcards are good enough for him to shove with. In that instance just top up you're stack and take his money. Do prefer a raise here pre though. Title: Re: Spewy, or just about acceptable? Post by: Cf on November 07, 2008, 12:43:10 PM For the reasons above I did call. Getting 2.5:1 when overcards/fd made a decent part of his range I just didn't see how I could fold.
He had 75 and failed to improve. I posted this cos I got a bit of critism for making this call, but I was reasonably confident I did the right thing. Although yes, a preflop raise would have been better. |
