Title: £20nl, scary board Post by: Cf on November 11, 2008, 04:02:36 AM 10p/20p blinds, 4 players
Hero: £40ish Villian: £20 Hero is UTG with Ad 8d Hero raises to 60p (standard raise in this game) Button folds SB calls Villian in BB calls Pot: £1.80 Flop: Aspades Ks Qs SB checks Villian checks Hero bets £1.20 (top pair, scary looking board, this should take it down) SB folds Villian raises to £2.40 (meh, could quite easily be a FD/SD, we can discount a set here I think, if he's flopped a straight/flush i'm about to find out) Hero raies to £6 (his reaction to this should tell me what I need to know) Villian calls Pot: £13.80 Turn Kd Villian checks Hero ??? Is this a good spot to be shoving? It's hard to put the villian on a straight/flush as you'd think he'd reraise the flop given how much interest I've shown. The king seems a safe card - it's not hit any draws, and we've already discounted a set so no full house. AK seems unlikely as you'd expect a 3-bet preflop. Wasn't sure at this point to shove or check behind. Title: Re: £20nl, scary board Post by: Longy on November 11, 2008, 08:38:50 AM Yuck at 3 betting the flop, call or fold depending on the opponent. This board hits so many hands and most of them aren't draws either, unless villian is particularly tricky/bad they will slow down on the turn and that will give you all the information you need without sticking another 3.60 in there.
On the turn i would just check behind, if you are shoving it is bluff trying to fold ax hands which are chopping. Also we raised for info on the flop and still don't know what to do on the turn, says it all really. Title: Re: £20nl, scary board Post by: Graham C on November 11, 2008, 11:04:09 AM 3 bet is horrible and the call worrying. Check and hope he checks the river too. If he's got the nuts and you're betting into him, he's more likely to let you hang yourself rather than bet into you after the way you've played it.

Title: Re: £20nl, scary board Post by: MC on November 20, 2008, 10:18:22 PM I might well be inclined to check this flop.
Why you'd 3 bet this flop I'm not sure. I prefer a pass, or even a call over this option. Shoving the turn would be horrible. All the hands you beat pass. All the hands that crush you snap call. Please check and hope you get a free showdown... Title: Re: £20nl, scary board Post by: AlexMartin on November 20, 2008, 10:47:13 PM shove pre imo. combinatronics ftw.
