Yeah it was rubbish. yeah just delete the whole thing Title: Re: This ever happened to anyone?? Post by: AndrewT on November 11, 2008, 06:09:32 PM Has happened to me and to more people than you'd think.
I had some guy take out a couple of hundred out of a cashpoint in Milan - my bank (HSBC) immediately blocked the card as I'd used it in London half an hour earlier. I got my money back and I assume you will too, provided the fact it was a transfer doesn't complicate things (ie the bank don't think you hatched a plan with your mate Jesus Roque in Ecuador/wherever to transfer money to him and pretend it was nicked). Title: Re: This ever happened to anyone?? Post by: feedthegoat on November 11, 2008, 06:11:22 PM You should get the cash back but don't expect it to happen quickly. A similar thing happened to a girl I used to work with and it took her over 3 months and loads of hassle to get it sorted. Good luck.

Title: Re: This ever happened to anyone?? Post by: Swordpoker on November 11, 2008, 08:37:43 PM This happened to me last year. I got my money back straight away from my Bank (Abbey) and then they investigated afterwards.

Post by: Splash on November 12, 2008, 11:00:14 AM happened to me a few months ago... got a call from the bank asking if I was in Melbourne Oz.... erm no. They had scimmed my card somewhere and cloned it... bank were very good.. told me knot to worry and I'd get everything back and no charges for OD etc. May be different with it being online banking using ur PW etc, tougher to prove it wasnt u i think. Natwest have a little calculator thingie now that gives you a number to enter if you want to pay someone out.... ie you can t make a payment unless u have the calculator thingie....
GL hope it gets sorted. Title: Re: This ever happened to anyone?? Post by: T_Mar on November 12, 2008, 12:15:24 PM Soo sick Amatay..
Like others have said it seems to be common place nowadays unfortunately I would recommend getting a full credit check done on yourself, (Experian I think is the company) happended to the gf couple of years ago after her bank were still sending statements to her old address.. some scumbag had cloned her identity completely, credit history showed over 50 applications for credit in some form or another.. even had new bank accounts opened in her name. Amazingly she wasn't liable, but horrible to go through all the same... shredder FTW nowadays! |
