Title: Want Sky?
Post by: Ismene on November 19, 2008, 01:26:50 PM
Give the gift of Free Sky+ & Free Sky TV to your friends and family this Christmas
This message comes from Brian Sullivan, Managing Director, Customer Group
We’d like to make your Christmas extra special so we’ve put together our best ever Sky Staff offer. We’re giving every employee 3 gifts of Sky+ and Sky TV to give to their friends or family for FREE this Christmas. (Each gift is worth £444)

Give 3 friends or family members who don’t yet have Sky TV the following great offer:

Free Sky+ box with free installation (save £180)
Free Sky TV 6 Pack for a year (save £264)
Or if they’d prefer to have Sky Sports and Sky Movies then they can take all of this for half price:

Free Sky+ box with free installation (save £180)
Half price Sky World for 12 months – just £23.50 per month (save £282)
To spread the festive cheer even further, remember to tell your friends and family that as Sky TV customers they could also benefit from free Sky Broadband if they are in a Sky Network area and free Sky Talk, helping them save even more money every month.

Offer ends Saturday 20 December 2008.

It's going to be a long wait,no company can afford to give away £80 million a year.

It's going to be a long wait,no company can afford to give away £80 million a year.

Theres going to be a tipping point though when a large proportion of channels are available in HD and competition between Sky and Virgin forces their hand.

It will probably happen shortly after the digital switchover when freeview does free HD.

Title: Re: Want Sky?
Post by: Tractor on January 28, 2009, 06:38:20 PM
Freesat gets you the bbc, itv, ch4 hd channels for free.
I think Sky will waiver the £10 next year, they used to charge £10 a month for Sky + and then dropped it. Same will happen with hd.

Title: Re: Want Sky?
Post by: Dino on January 28, 2009, 06:39:23 PM
It seems the present plan is to pay for the cheap boxes with the HD charge.
From Sky's half-year report released today.

We have structured our investment so that the majority of costs are geared to demand; Sky+HD customer acquisition costs will only be incurred in proportion to take-up of the product. At a headline box price of £49, we estimate an incremental cost of adding a Sky+HD customer (either new to Sky or existing customer upgrades) of £100. This cost is fully recovered within 12 months through the ongoing monthly revenue from the HD pack subscription.

Sky contract is in your name so the new place already having a Sky dish up is irrelevant as it won't be working when you move in, no?

It was being rolled out to the oldest boxes first, all the thomson and pace boxes should have it.
Samsung and Amstrad should have been done by the end of spring but it came to a full stop about 3 weeks ago, rumours vary from sky cant get it to work on the older boxes,to the rollout has stopped till all the problems it has caused to the other boxes are fixed.
If you have a thomson or pace box and don't have the new epg you need to do a forced update to get it.

True..see the thing is; I grew up with Mart Smeets presenting the Tour. (he is Dutch obv) He could talk for the entire 6 hours about everything and nothing and keep you hooked. (and he knew his cycling) These Eurosport guys seem to know nothing about cycling, nothing about presenting and can only state the obvious.

And for me the Tour is as much about the great commentary as it is about the cycling..5 hours worth of cycling with no noise is a bit too much for me (Though obv only the mountain stages really matter)

I must say over the last few years i've had to watch itv's coverage because of eurosports commentary, with eurosport they seem to have one commentater for many sports and they know little to nothing for most of them.

standard package is like £17 or something..full package half price is sports and movies for something like £22 (I don't know how much each sky package is but that sounds about right).

These offers are going all the time though so just drop us a line mate.
