Title: Re: GuTShoT CluB Post by: Spenny_007 on November 22, 2005, 11:57:51 AM I believe several clubs opened after the success of Gutshot so if they get closed theres some dark days ahead for the others....Its a shame as if we had a club like that here i would go and play for sure.
But how hard would it of been to obtain a Gaming licence or would they have been rejected anyway...was it the cost? the hassle? any way gl to em...ive just read if they can prove poker is skill rather than luck they have a good chance of staying open. If someone hears anything let us know plz. Thx, DAZ. Title: Re: GuTShoT CluB Post by: ifm on November 22, 2005, 12:18:24 PM Though if they prove it's skill doesn't that mean it will no longer be gambling and therefore taxed?
It is extremely difficult to get the license, that's why they couldn't be bothered. Look at Rob Yong's thread on the subject. Title: Re: GuTShoT CluB Post by: mikkyT on November 22, 2005, 12:42:01 PM Just because it is a game of skill does not preclude the element of chance, nor does it preclude it from being classed as gambling.
Title: Re: GuTShoT CluB Post by: Graham C on November 22, 2005, 12:43:50 PM so if its a game of skill, do you need a licence to run such a premises?

Let's hope the case for the prosecution doesn't bring up the one-handed satellites they play at gutshot to blow a hole in the "poker is all skill" argument. To those that don't know for a one-handed satellite everyone puts in their money, gets two cards, a board is dealt and the best hand wins it all.
