make sure you report it cos you're prob gonna get a load of speeding/congestion charge tickets through the post

absolutely -plus there was a guy a few years ago who was going home from work in his car only to be surrounded by armed police cos some mad blaggers had stolen his cars identity.

lucky they stole just the plates,

they could have taken the car and left the plates!

apparently you have to take your car documents with you when you go and buy new plates now.

Call the police! Some people nick them before putting them on a car to do crime with. 

same happened to the missus a few years ago

Sam works for the police and has told me just how common this is - I had no idea.   How funny though if the car is used in a bank job, and PNC check shows it belongs to  Met personnel (about par for the course he he).

Our car now has a marker or something on it (something to do with a stop and check owner identity) which is what they do when plates are reported stolen. 

Usual case is they are stolen for drive offs at filling stations.Now you have a marked car be very careful no more than 1 unit,keep the belt on etc as you should get pulled every other day now!
