yeah it's easy.  IIRC you just peel off all the stickers and put 'em back on in the right places :)up

You can actually take each of the wee cubes off and put the whole lot back together again

yeah, I used to do that with mine laxie, only took about a minute to finish the puzzle that way

i used to be able to solve one in under 2 minutes still got beat in the school christmas events day but some nerd who did it in under 30 seconds

I used to average around 80s for the cube and could do it in 40s with a following wind.
Yes, I was that sad.
The 4*4*4 cube takes a bit longer. :)

Finally I can answer yes to this thread. One of the proudest moments of my life.

I can replace all the stickers in about 30 mins if I get all three kids helping

Is there a tried and tested system to it (I've never done anything other than randomly move the bits about, which unsurprisingly doesn't achieve much)?  I remember there was that Rubix magic puzzle in the late 80s/early 90s that was dead easy to do in 6-7 moves.

There was, I could do it when I was at school, not sure if I could now or not.

There are hundreds of different methods, I spent some time on youtube and have collated what works best for me from various tutorials.

Layer 2: I use algorithms: Right =  U – R – U – Ri – Ui – Fi – Ui – F, Left = Ui – Li – Ui – L – U – F – U – Fi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeDGazAp2xQ)

Layer 3: Algorithms from a different guy = F R T R' T' F', T R T' L' T R' T' L and finally R' D' R D  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPWBFHTPrvY & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S119DuqAtM)

Done it twice now, first 2 layers are pretty easy, I can do them within 5 mins without having to look at any reference material but still struggle with the third layer.

I can get 5 sides done but I can't seem to manage all 6.

i had one as a kid and once managed two sides which i was proud of at the time

In the day we used to strip them down and Vaseline them for fasting spinning.  I remember specifically a few of in the pub practicing and I know I was well under 60secs to complete. Luckily most of this stuff in my head has been replaced with poker rubbish,  and the only times these memories surface again are when threads like this appear.

Can do it in about 2 minutes.  Would definitely take a prop to do it in less than 3.

the rubic revenge is a nice cube to solve , will take several mins to do , used to be about to do the normal cube in about 45 seconds , see some of these guys on youtube doing them in about 10

There was an amazing Rubik's themed game on the computer that I had when I was younger but can't seem to find it anymore.  It had tutorials on different methods of solving the cubes (all different sizes) and all different kinds of puzzle games too.  Some of the games had nothing to do with the cube as well and they were already quite entertaining.  I think I'd better start googling....

I have never managed to solve a rubik cube in my life.

I just can not understand how the thing works and what do I have to do to solve it. So annoying.

I did it in 40 odd seconds when I was a kid, and was pretty much always under 1 minute 30.  Wouldn't like to make a prop bet to do it in under 3 minutes now.  Guess it would come back if I had one.  I would have absolutely no chance of doing one blindfold. 

I never read a book or watched a video, but sure one of the kids at school started me off.  Think I worked out quicker ways to do most things though.

I just timed myself a few times.. all peppered around 1.50 (which probably kills my 3 min prop action :D )

Was definitely more nimble in yester-year, bizarrely it takes me a disproportionate amount of time to do the first side and then everything seems to speed up from there.

get a rubik's cube with touch screen, it has the function to solve itself when you get sick of it  ;D
