You have 12 BB's pre, I would just push the lot in especially with the ante's, if there are prizes for finishing 45th and higher...
If its just 73 left and 72 through i'd fold... Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: Ironside on December 17, 2008, 09:11:33 AM 73 left 72 get seat in the final
45+ get small prizes winner gets an entry into alot of sunday majors top 9 get entry into 2 215$ sunday comps so it was playing to win and get seat Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: Graham C on December 17, 2008, 09:56:20 AM I'd have just shoved preflop.
Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: Laxie on December 17, 2008, 10:23:07 AM I'd have just shoved preflop. Same here. Happy to take down the blinds and antes for now. Can get cute with hands like that after the bubble bursts. That said, the guy had only a flush draw from the flop and had called off half his stack by the turn despite lack of improvement, so he may very well have called an all in pre if he was that in love with the hand. Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: gatso on December 17, 2008, 11:54:44 AM tbh I think you've played this terribly. I'm not quite understanding the prize structure, is it small prizes for the top 45 with the sunday biggie entries being prizes only in the final? if so then this is a pass pre-flop.
or is it small prizes for the top 45 with sunday biggies for the top 9 in this tourney plus a seperate final with more prizes? in this case it's a shove pre. once you've seen a flop you're only likely to get action from someone who has you beat. as it played you nearly got lucky against a villain who is clueless but that shouldn't make you feel you played it right Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: Graham C on December 17, 2008, 12:07:29 PM It's a Stars Freeroll, the top 72 qualify for the final on Sunday, but there are prizes for the top 45. The Sunday Biggie is for the winner only. Prizes start at a Step 2 ticket and move up gradually, but no significant prizes until the FT.
Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: gatso on December 17, 2008, 12:17:13 PM The Sunday Biggie is for the winner only. the winner of this game or the final? no significant prizes until the FT. ft of this or just the final? Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: Graham C on December 17, 2008, 12:34:28 PM This game.
Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: gatso on December 17, 2008, 12:36:51 PM in that case shove pre
what are the prizes in the final? is this the one you've qualified for graham? Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: pokerfan on December 17, 2008, 12:37:03 PM final

Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: MANTIS01 on December 17, 2008, 01:22:01 PM qualifierPlaces Freeroll Qualifiers - Prizes Awarded
1st WBCOOP Final seat + Sunday Majors Platinum Package* 2nd-9th WBCOOP Final seat + Sunday Majors Gold Package** 10th-27th WBCOOP Final seat + Step 3 Ticket 28th-45th WBCOOP Final seat + Step 2 Ticket 46th-72nd WBCOOP Final seat This is a normal prize structure isn't it? Basic prize at the bottom, better prizes at the ft, best prize for 1st. If all the prizes were the same then pushing or folding your Aces would be reasonable. If the prize structure isn't flat how can you argue that playing your hand badly is ok? If you push A-A to make 72nd J-Q will fold, and is that what you really want? If you play the hand the way you did then you get all your chips in against J-Q drawing dead to a club, and if the prizes escalate you must want that. If you are gunning for the ft the bubble is the time to get chips. Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: gatso on December 17, 2008, 01:34:56 PM mantis, you seem to be basing your answer on the fact that we're playing against a moron who plays JQ really badly. we don't have this info at the start of the hand.
we only have 12BB here and you want to play a flop? Title: Re: bubble hand in a sat Post by: MANTIS01 on December 17, 2008, 02:19:46 PM mantis, you seem to be basing your answer on the fact that we're playing against a moron who plays JQ really badly. we don't have this info at the start of the hand. we only have 12BB here and you want to play a flop? Nah, my answer isn't based on knowing he's got J-Q buddy. My answer is based on the fact that we win the hand like 3/4 of the time against whatever he's got. So I'm not playing a flop, I'm getting my chips in, and pushing wont achieve that.
