Title: Club World Cup/Championships whatever it's called Post by: Josedinho on December 18, 2008, 10:22:19 AM Man United are playing a strong XI.
Unsure of formation but..... VDS G Nev Rio Vidic Evra Nani Scholes Anderson Giggs Ronaldo Tevez Priced at 4/11 which is obviously not odds i like to get involved with. Bluesq however have some decent value if you in my opinion Ronaldo to score Man U to win 7/5 Tevez to score Man U to win 15/8 I've gone for Tevez but both could easily happen. Not much notice but if you were looking to get involved these could interest you. Actually they might. The South American champions take this tournament very seriously and if they win it will actually believe they are the best team on earth. They will play their hearts out unlike Utd. But isn't this the point of the Tourney? therefore they are correct to believe this. That might be the point of the tourney but the best team on Earth was already decided in the Champions League final. I bet to differ mate, i ain't sure the likes of Man Yoo could hold there own against the likes of Boca Juniors etc South american football, is so much more skillful and faced paced compared to the EPL Title: Re: Club World Cup/Championships whatever it's called Post by: TheChipPrince on December 19, 2008, 09:25:19 AM They may have managed to sneak past the mighty Japanese team, but they'll have to up their performance if they're to overcome the crack outfit from Ecuador in the final. if they win it will actually believe they are the best team on earth. Neh blatant "We were the best team on Earth five times" brag post Title: Re: Club World Cup/Championships whatever it's called Post by: The Baron on December 19, 2008, 09:23:10 PM Lol nah not a brag post I'm afraid. The CL is now the highest level of football there is. World Cup included. My reasoning is that most of the best players from South America play in the CL. In fact their players' aim from a young age is to come to a big European club. You wont get a Pele type player who stays at Santos for life in today's game. The clubs there just aren't good enough and don't pay enough. Even the Boca Juniors, River Plates, Gremios of the continent are feeder clubs these days. Class acts like Ilsinho, Aguero, Diego etc dn't even go straight to big clubs any more. Those 3 are at Shakthar, Atletico and Bremen respectively. Ronaldinho went to PSG. Ronaldo went to PSV. Kaka went to Milan at what - 15 or something daft? Their best players aren't there long enough for them to be good enough. (Sort of like Arsenal ;))
To deny Man U are the best team in Europe is a bit daft even for a Liverpool fan and I really do believe it's by far the best footballing competition in the world. I would agree that the South American leagues are technically more gifted than the EPL but not in a million years is it faster paced. I would also argue that in the EPL you play a better calire of opposition every week unlike South America where in certain parts of the season you'll be playing team you can beat a gazillion nil. Title: Re: Club World Cup/Championships whatever it's called Post by: The Baron on December 19, 2008, 09:27:33 PM Or to put it another way if Man U lose the final they'll be over it in a week.
If they lost the Champions League final, well, just ask John Terry if he's over it yet. Why do they have to label it as Football on Five? Surely disguised. Title: Re: Club World Cup/Championships whatever it's called Post by: david3103 on December 22, 2008, 10:26:55 AM Is it not on tele? I see it's on Setanta Ireland, but apart from that? Not that it's worth it now obv. It was on 5. Wanted the scum to lose so hard, sighh. Why does it have to be so tribal? I've been a Man Utd supporter for 40+ years. Not a 'go to every game home and away' supporter, but a supporter nonetheless. The first FA Cup Final I sat and watched with my dad was '63. He became a supporter when the babes emerged and got the big emotional attachment after Munich. Best, Law, Charlton were heroes for me and for many. '68 ... what a night! The years of nothing, relegated by that backheel; the occasional FA Cup wins; getting close to the title but losing out; Liverpool's dominance; Michael Knigton's keepie-uppies; we put up with it all. But when Liverpool were ruling Europe in the 70's and 80's I celebrated their wins as being English. I even cheered them on in that game at Istanbul. I confess that when they went 3 down I did have a chuckle, but when the recovery started I was cheering them on. (The biggest laugh to come from that night was hearing about all the 'fans' who left at half-time) Now, well Ferguson is 'the man' and the world is full of ABUs. But Scum? I don't think so.
