Title: Rate my Xmas Dinner
Post by: WYSINWYG on December 25, 2008, 02:05:05 AM
Post yours here, we'll be gentle

Just in case you were thinking of the 'Oh I forgot/was too drunk to take photos' excuse.

Thanks to Dewi for coming up with the idea for this thread.

This will be mine after my Christmas went completely tits up yesterday when I came down with that Norovirus, to the point where I'm gonna be spending it on my own in Bristol, with the family in Chester and Joobs in Kent.

In the kitchen making it now...Laptops are great..it means I can stay away from the in-laws for the next few hours (they are not allowed in the kitchen while I cook :))...Dinner shall be served from 3.30 onwards (starting with soup obv)..so pictures should follow then.

soup??

xmas dinner should be so big that you can't possibly finish it. if you're serving starters then the main obv isn't enough. -3 points already for undersize meal

lol, you fool...The reason I serve soup is so that there will be more turkey and ham left for me tomorrow.

Sigh..hard bloody work explaining stuff to you sometimes. 4th level thinking man!

p.s. just had the brother in law come into the kitchen to get his gf a drink as his gf is scared now :)... ..excellent.

Right, lets get one thing clear, this will never be as good as MY Fry-Up thread, FACT.

Starter I had Pate with Mushrooms, gf had Minestrone soup, hardly traditional but fck it...

Main explains itself, Turkey, oven roasties, roasted parsnips, mange tout, sprouts, pigs in blankets, carrotts, stuffing, cranberry, califlower cheese, yorkie puds, homemade gravy, have that gits...  PS 1st xmas away from mums cooking, i'm happy with my the gf's attempt...

Does look mighty fine but please never ever ever include yorkshire puddings in an xmas dinner, it's just wrong.

Before serving & carving.....

Poor photography - but I want points for deboning and stuffing the turkey myself instead of paying for it.

Yeah I have no idea what he was on when he wrote that. No Yorkshire is ridiculous.

Yorkshire puddings are indeed a superb edition to a Sunday roast but never ever with turkey. Never. Ever.

I wouldn't have yorkshires with Xmas dinner, BUT when I worked in Wakefield I was given them with a roast chicken dinner & they were great.

here we go...some shitty pics as the camera sucks..and my picture taking abilities are less than average.

Dinner consisted of; Tomato soup (hand made obviously..and strained not a blender in sight) with fresh baked rolls.
Potatoes, sprouts, carrots, Turkey and Ham. With cranberry sauce and Applemoes (like Bramley applesauce but MUCH MUCH better)..oh and Sage and Onion stuffing (I hate it but the inlaws like it)

Desert, Hot Applecrumble (home made obv.), Vanilla Icecream and Chocolate cake (Homemade again obv...MrsB's deserts rock!)
