Title: Another boring pc help thread. Post by: pokerfan on January 03, 2009, 02:15:19 PM The story,my pc crashed during a major windows update ,not really sure wich but it said would take an hour and would restart several times during process. So all starts as planned but seems to get stuck about 30minutes in.I decided to leave it for a couple of hours but it was definatly stuck so i turned the power off like you do. Then the fun began the pc wouldnt reboot no matter what i tried safemode ms dos anything so i decided to reload vista, but when i looked in the box(allways keep the box) i didnt have a recovery disk so i used my mums instead. The only trouble there is though i have an Acer aspire pc and she has a toshiba laptop but i loaded it anyway and it worked!
Problems,my desktop now thinks its a laptop but i can live with that, the sound works but isnt as loud as before, the screen just looks different more blocky(resolution how do i change it?)the dvd works ok but what if any future problems am i going to encounter? I think most Acers come with a restore partition - ie the restore is on a seperate part of your hard drive already. It may well still be there, and you normally activate it at bios startup (Alt-F10 or Alt-F11) to activate it and then just follow the instructions. Give it a try, the partition should be there. I did this for a mate and it worked fine. Title: Re: Another boring pc help thread. Post by: pokerfan on January 03, 2009, 02:44:26 PM sounds like a plan cheers Tractor.
