Title: NFD, shallow, in blinds
Post by: TightEnd on January 04, 2009, 08:41:45 PM
£100 live freezeout

3 tables remain

just been moved to new table

In small blind with  Ks 5c

playing 12,000 after a hit, blinds 300-600

young lad, loose and tending to the spewy on past notes playing 18,000 limps

I complete (mistake? raise? fold?)

BB checks

flop  5s Ts Aspades

bet out or check to check call or check to check raise?

I check intending to get it in if lad bets

Young lad bets 1,500

I make it 5,000

bb passes

Lad insta shoves

I call

Thoughts please. I think bet and shove if limper raises is a better line for me no?

I prefer your line here rather than leading out though. You give him a chance to take the pot with hands he might have missed with. Also knowing how tight you are I think this line is really strong and can make him lay down a lot of his hands.

I always make up in the small here too, be interesting to know if this is a leak?

I make the up the blind too.
Then bet 2000 with the rest to follow if needs be.
What did youngun have? A8 or some such?

I don't like your line here. if he flats the 5k and the turn comes a brick what's your plan? you're sat with around half the pot back and one card to hit your draw.

I'd rather lead here (1500ish), if he flats we can reassess the turn with a much nicer stack to pot ratio, if he raises we go over the top ai

If you raise pre the loose spewy limper will prob call you. Then you will be oop with little room to negotiate and a poor hand. This makes raising undesirable. The fact he may spew if you hit a flop makes calling the 300 desirable imo.

Now that we're at the flop with under 12k you've got to think about the most powerful way to use your limited resources. People rarely bet out the flush here and so if you bet out and he raises, maybe with an Ace, you'll never put him to a big decision, because if you now shove he's committed to calling you. So I think checking is the right move. When he bets 1,500 I would just push rather than raising 5k. Now you have used your chips to their best effect by putting him to a major decision. This bet can easily look like 2 pair and gives you the best chance of pushing him off a weak Ace. The 5k raise is a great bet for a thinking player, but with this guy just putting max pressure on him is the best line imo.

i like leading, but id make it more like 1K, so we actually have some FE on our 3bai.

I think I probably pass pre, I hate bleeding chips from the SB.  If I do make up I think I check/call the flop bet.

The more I think about it though I am definitely passing pre.

Personally I pass pre. I don't like these sort of hands because they lead to more trouble than they're worth. If the spewy guy has history of limp folding I may try a cheeky raise pre if I've not been attacking his limps too often.

As played I'd go with this:

I don't like your line here. if he flats the 5k and the turn comes a brick what's your plan? you're sat with around half the pot back and one card to hit your draw.

I'd rather lead here (1500ish), if he flats we can reassess the turn with a much nicer stack to pot ratio, if he raises we go over the top ai

phantom FE imo. reraises live means the guy aint folding.
