Title: Moderaters
Post by: VANDAM on November 24, 2005, 02:48:32 PM
The tony G THREAD was stopped by a global mod, i have been a member of blonde since its inception i can honestly say tony  and dave are two of the most honest people i know and the updates etc second to none but i feel blonde gives a voice to a lot of no marks who would not normally be heard.tony G is and has always been the same and he will not change they knew his form so whats the problem at first blonde was freshand good fun  now it is jaded remember every one is entitled to an opinion

If you are reasonably good at not being wound up yourself then having a TonyG type player at your table can be a good thing as it loosens everyone up.

i agree with  you tony G has won more than me so faie play to him

Having not been a member here for very long I do feel rather offended that a post regarding last nights World Speed Poker programme on tv has been deleted without warning.

If this is the attitute of the mods on this forum that members cannot discuss TV programmes (regardless of WHO was playing) then I'm afraid this forum is not for me.

I had not read the Tong G forum until AFTER I'd posted my short story and received no notice from anyone that my post was to be deleted. Why has this been done? Has my post upset Tony G? Has it upset Dave C?

Shame on you all.

Mr Administrator,

I'm not fully up to speed with 'who's running this forum' but would it not be better to tell people when you delete their posts PRIOR to deletion. We're all supposed to be adults here and I understood that whilst I cannot swear (as others do) nor offend (I don't belive I have) then I DO have a right to post my thoughts on poker related items and thoughts.

as a fairly new member here I'm not au fait with some of the rules and regs you guys have but it does seem that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing at times here.

Closing threads...re-opening threads...deleting perfectly innocuous threads is defo not condusive to good PR.

To be honest I'm a fairly amenable kind of guy buts it's kinda ridiculous as to whats been happening on this forum over the past few hours!

Just my thoughts sir.

i believe moderators do only delete, amend, move posts for the right reasons and like a football ref they have a thankless and unrewarding job. like football refs they sometimes make mistakes which ironside has admitted, also they make decisions that do not please everyone. but i do believe that when a post is deleted/changed there should be an explanation as to why unless it is glaringly obvious.

dont give the mods a hard time, after all would you like to do it?

ok mark/jellbean/ukpoker

you have been a member of this forum for a long time you know the ropes

and have been suspended recently

your orginal post that was deleted was deemed by the mods to be there as a toold to stir trouble

another admin read the post and thought it wasnt bad but by this time it was deleted

but seeing as you deny being ukpoker i can confirm that you are and that you are reminded

that you are on a final warning the mods are unhappy at your personal attacks on them

on your blogg and are unhappy that blonde kept its word by allowing you back after 1 month

but we have given you a chance please take this chance and modify your attitude before its too late

i do believe that when a post is deleted/changed there should be an explanation as to why unless it is glaringly obvious.

The only thing this tends to lead to is discussion about whether or not the post should have been deleted, which obviously gets nowhere.

I agree with the rest of what you said though.

Jellybean unmasked!  /:-|

Good work ironside, and in fact the mods in general.  Obviously judgement calls have to made occasionally (I've had a post modified before which I thought it was a tad over-zealous - no complaint from me) but everyone should realise that like the referee in footy you only get picked up on the slightly dodgy calls.

Now will I get my post modified if I say that Jellybelly would be more appropriate...

Yes, we, the Admins & Mods, did get ourselves into a bit of a pickle today - but all things considered, that's no great surprise, given that blondepoker has, on the whole, had "quite a day".....!

So, we may have made a error or two. Show me someone who has never made an error, & I'll show you someone who never makes decisions. Bad decisions are often better than no decisions, & it's not an easy job by any means, especially when there are always those ready to throw stones following the slightest error, or be disengenous. Some folks, I'm told, even become Members for no other reason than to make trouble. It takes all sorts, I guess. The Members as a whole ain't daft, they know a good 'un from a wrong 'un, & the agitators & troublemakers stick out like sore thumbs. (Wonder where THAT saying comes from?).

blonde's growth continues apace, & we will continue to try & keep this place the way you guys like it. We'll have good days & bad days, but those that matter to us will stick around if they remain happy, & those that don't like it will, presumably, move on. Nobody is forced to be a Member here.

So long as it remains a place where we can talk poker & other stuff, have a laugh, & not insult anyone, then we will be happy.

I have just got back from 6 days away, & am addressing a number of issues that have arisen in my absence. Bear with me while I work through them.

The Admins & Mods have had a difficult few days, especially given that they do it for love,. & none of them gets paid. (They, collectively, refused to accept payment from blonde). I remain 100% committed, & grateful, to every one of them, as I do to the Members who make this place what it is.

The occasional bad day, or iffy decision, won't do any harm in the longer term.

Mistakes? There but for the Grace of God, as the saying goes. It applies to all of us.
