Title: Ruling please
Post by: david3103 on January 08, 2009, 10:50:24 AM
It should be common practice to lay out the deck in suits in cardinal order before the start of a tournament, but this was Pub Poker. A social occasion, but on this night a social occasion with a buy-in and a seat to the Irish Open Qualiiers as the 1st prize.

We got to the end of level 2 before anyone noticed that the 52 cards we were using included five aces. (There were five tens too, and only two Jacks.  I think there was only sixes that had one of each suit)

There were two tables in play, the other had a perfect deck.

I've had a look at Roberts Rules and at the tda site and neither has much to say about this beyond the return of all chips from the hand when the error is noticed. No doubt that's because the pre-play check is such an obvious thing to do.

Duting the break it was decided that we would correct the eck and continue to play since it had been the same for everyone and tbf the chip stacks round the table were all pretty close to the starting stacks anyway.

Does that sound reasonable?

The former hands that have dealt stand, so your ruling is correct.

Correct ruling.

Shoot the person who didn't check the deck before hand...

Check everyone's sleeves before play restarts.

Imo only shoot people who hold Aces and eights, cos then you get a nice mix of authentic Wild West Poker and Russian Roulette. This would make the game fairly exciting. Obv everyone in the pub wears red bandanas like in the Deer Hunter.

I'm happy with that as long as we shoot 100% of people with aces and eights, any less than 100% and it starts to get boring again
