Title: Live omaha hand Post by: gribbo on January 16, 2009, 08:09:42 PM Hi was playing live £0.5/1 recently Hold em and some Omaha, I had never played Omaha before and just want opinion on a hand.
I am playing £190 and villain has me covered, villain is a good aggressive player who I have not really tangled with so far. I am on the button with Aspades Ts 8c 7c, there is a limper utg and the villain pots it to £5 I flat call so does limper. Pot is around £18 on flop, comes Tc 9s 3s Utg checks villain bets full pot, the action is on me, whats best further act for hand? Will post results after several replies, thanks Title: Re: Live omaha hand Post by: boldie on January 16, 2009, 08:42:46 PM I raise here....you're drawing in soo many ways and have your pair which can of course suck out on any higher pair....if you flat it here and hit your draws on the turn he, most likely, won't pay you off...get them in now.
I probably also re-raise pre...depending on how many people call (I take it in this case there were only three of you in the hand?) edit* Hate villains full pot bet on the flop, almost no matter what he has I hate it...so him being a "good agressive player" is in some doubt with me to be honest. Re-raise him, there is 54 total in the pot (after your calling of the 18)...so 35-40 more should do. p.s. just noticed 2 Tens of spades in your posts...bit of a problem that..are you drawing to the nut flush or do your clubs make the flush? Not necesasrily pot sized, but somewhere close...

Title: Re: Live omaha hand Post by: Micko on January 17, 2009, 03:20:26 PM I like you flatting pre flop but aboslutly would be potting this on the flop you have a monster draw. You should also get AAxx KKxx type hands to fold (unless he has K high flush which is perfect) when you reraise on the flop. If he is a good player as you say he not gonna call your reraise without a set or a big draw which in this case your in still good shape.
Title: Re: Live omaha hand Post by: EvilPie on January 18, 2009, 01:06:58 AM If you pass this hand you shouldn't be playing omaha.
If you flat call and hit you are unlikely to get paid. If you flat call and miss the turn you are no longer anywhere as strong. You aren't deep enough to make a small raise to maybe tempt the limper and if he's calling £54 chances are he's calling the shove depending on his and villains stacks. Only one option left. Shove the lot in. Even against a set + fd taking some of your outs you aren't in bad shape. pokenum -o Aspades Ts 8c 7c - Th Td Ks 5s -- Tc 9s 3s Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing 9s 3s Tc cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV Aspades Ts 8c 7c 351 42.80 469 57.20 0 0.00 0.428 Ks 5s Td Th 469 57.20 351 42.80 0 0.00 0.572 That's a 43% shot assuming worst case. If the guy who limped comes along you can assume he might have some of your outs which will cut your win odds but increase your pot odds. As most of your outs are nut outs you want the other guy in anyway. If you flat and the limper does come along you've got to assume he's on a set or a big wrap around the 9 and 10 with a couple of spades in his hand. He shouldn't be involved without this and shouldn't get away no matter what with it so no matter what happens you need all your money in the middle whilst you've still got 2 cards to come. Interested to hear how it turns out. Title: Re: Live omaha hand Post by: Horneris on January 18, 2009, 01:24:13 PM I am on the button with Aspades Ts 8c 7c wow, mbn! Title: Re: Live omaha hand Post by: gribbo on January 18, 2009, 05:44:35 PM Yea I raised the guy on the flop to around £40 and we ended up getting all the money in. He had Js Qs Th Td so he had top set with the open ender and flush, probably one of the worst hands he could have against me.
He turned a straight and I rivered a flush to win the pot, thanks for the comments. |
