Title: A Windy Week in Brighton
Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on January 19, 2009, 03:53:32 AM
Thought I would post a diary of one of the funniest week's that I can remember for a long time, and I am sure the boyband and co will agree with me..

So, where shall I begin? Monday sounds like a good idea..

Monday

I had a fairly good journey down to Brighton. I forgot to top up my windscreen fluid which was now empty, but luckily for me it rained the whole way, otherwise I would have been peeking out of a little gap in the window all the way down no doubt. It took me about an hour and 20 minutes to get there from Rickmansworth, and when I reached the NCP carpark I gave Flushy a ring. I wasn't planning on staying in the NCP as it was ridiculously expensive per day, and as I didn't need my car for the week Flushy advised me to park it at the Marina Free Multi Story car park. Great idea I thought, he was leaving his house to meet me there as I left the NCP, with a vague idea of the direction I have to go.

It only took me about 25 minutes to do a 3 mile journey! First I took a right turn instead of left and ended up driving past the Grosvenor, Odean Cinema and then ringing Flushy and having him tell me to turn around. Then I drove up the wrong left turn on that same roundabout and ended up following the beach (which, might I add, Flushy told me to do). I was getting lower and lower and wasn't feeling too safe, then the road came to an end and had Caravan's at the end of it, so I promptly turned around and went back to said roundabout. Took the only other possible way it could be and drove! I see no signs or anything, go over a few roundabouts and then hit traffic. I ring Flushy for probably the 5th time of the short journey now and he tells me that it will come up on my right, and I wont miss it. Well, needless to say, I did miss it, and I turned around and finally arrived at the car park and saw Flushy parked outside! I grab my bag of clothes from the car, and also my Iron, which I thought was a pretty smart thing to bring, despite getting some stick for it later on!

Flushy takes us straight to the Casino to buy me in for that evening's £220 and Tuesday's £330. We are just about to leave the casino when Kev turns up and we sigh at how we could have escaped 3 minutes earlier. Not to worry, we shall humour the mug for 15 minutes and then buggar off back to Flushys while I go to the hotel. I rung ChipRich on the way to the hotel and he tells me they are 5 minutes from the casino and will come to the hotel afterward. So I go to the hotel hoping I can get our room(s) even though they are in Knave's name. They allowed me one, and when I got in there I couldnt help but laugh and then text Knave "You muppet, you've only gone and got us doubles!".

Soon after Knave, Rich and Brent turn up. Knave sorts the room out, as I realise that there was a second sofa bed, but our room was not made out, and he checked Brent's room and their's was, Knave was straight on the phone asking them to come up and make it for him! They offer another room so he goes and gets the new keys and we make our way into that room when we realise this bed isn't made either! LOL. He's straight on the phone again and this time we wait for someone to come up to take us to another room - all because they couldnt be bothered to make the beds! We finally got sorted and with 10 minutes til the comp started we headed out of the hotel.

Middy and TommyC were supposed to be there already but they had apparently got lost on route, and as we were trying to call down a taxi we saw a car drifting across the whole road at a slow pace. Of course it was them two, not having a clue where they were and looking incredibly tired after a 8 hour drive! Apparently the postcode Brent had given them took them to Bournemouth and not Brighton, so it was a slight detour!

Arrived in time for the £200 and the table draw was pretty funny. I had Flushy to my left, on the table next to us was Trigg, the one behind us was Nicky and Knave, and the one next to that was Middy. We had a good laugh between us all, and the people that didn't matter - mainly Brent - were on the tables on the other side of the casino, Happy Days. I played few hands early on, yet still I got reraised by Flushy over the first raise I made with JQblack, he says he had Aces. [  ] I believe you mate. Although having said that he did panic raise a bit and lol'd. The next time I raise with KQred I get Flushy wanting to peel! Flop is Jred 3red 3x. After making it 325 pre I c-bet 550 and he flats it!! Turn comes 8x, and I check, knowing that Flushy likes to float alot! He bets 700, which kinda slowed me in my C/Raise plans, just because the bet looks so enticing. I still jam anyway for just short of 4k total and was happy to not see him insta calling! He passed and says he thought he flopped quads until he looked back at his 44. Wp again mate ;D

A little later, still 50/100, I am bb and a guy I learn now made the final (Keir something), makes it 300, C/o and SB flat, and I can't refuse with 56green. I got a semi on when the flop came 248 rainbow and soon check raised Keir's bet of 600 to 2k and he dwell folded. Trigg was already out by this point btw and asks me to show the crowd, so I flick it up to show him only behind me. It doesnt take long for him to blabber my hand and the guy knows i've pushed him off the best of it. Moments later and Flushy check raises his way to victory against him too, with air, and Flushys little chuckle gives away to him that he was bluffed! Moments later i've found AK on the cutoff and he has opened in early to 400 @ 75/150. I make it 1125, and he thinks and decides his KT is good enough to push with no FE (2400 total), and he gets there, thanks to Flushy and Trigg yelling the 10 in!! I get moved table to Brent's. And we get put on a break instantly.

As Trigg was out so soon he decided to put up some fun prices for the comp and we all had a gamble. I had Jones to last longer out of about 8 of us for £20, and also someone else to make the final who I can't remember now. Went back after the break and at 100/200 I wasn't raise folding my AQ with a 3k stack and walked into AK. GG me. I joined the rail and soon asked for a match bet between Middy and Nik Persuad with Trigg bookmakers. 5/6 on Middy I got and had £60 to hopefully freeroll me in my other bets. A few levels later and the match bet was over when Nik busted. Ty Trigg. By this time the drinks were flowing and someone decided it were a good idea to buy Yegameisters - mvls. Other things I done after that was ;

1. Rail Knave to the LL, which he cruelly failed when Nicky's KT got there vs Knaves QQ.
2. Stand behind TK and laugh how bad he played hands.
3. Drink.

Then at the end of days play Nicky and Flushy were going to go back for day 2. But Flushy took us round to 'Buddies', a place on the front that is open 24hrs and we all wandered round. They do an Ultimate Buddie Breakfast. Which I obv had, and Middy also ordered. I believe it consisted of : 3 bacon, 3 sausage, black pudd, beans, fried egg, chips, toast, mushrooms, burger and a 5oz steak. There is probably some stuff I missed out on, but I have a picture on my phone i'll get round to uploading soon!

Some ppl opted out of flipping and only 4 of us did so. Me, Flushy, Middy and Jones. FML, Obviously there was only one loser there, and despite the bill being £90 total, and I am only supposed to be paying half of it as there was 8 who ate, I still ended up paying £60! And that apparently included the nit tax they had to pay!!

We walked back to the hotel after that and realised just how lazy we was getting a taxi in the first place and headed off to rooms. Me and Knave sharing our room, and there was a lovely looking double bed and a single sofa thing that looked pretty shit. Me and Knave decided a flip was in order and before he flipped the first coin I said I wanted best of 3. He flipped the first, I called tails, he showed a head, sigh, up against it now. I flipped the 2nd coin, he called heads, I flipped a tail, weeee, back in the game... Now we had a problem though, who would flip the last coin?? We decided to flip to see who would flip the last coin, but then the same problem occured. So we decided to ring someone and get them to flip one and we pick our head/tail before the call... Flushy answered on our 2nd attempt and apparently he had just got into bed! He had to wander over to actually turn the light on and flip a coin. I had picked Tails, and Jones Heads, this was crucial, the whole week depended on this flip.......................................

"It's tails lads".

I jumped for joy, threw my phone across the room in celebration and done a Shearer around the room screaming at 5am, followed by a Ravanelli onto the bed. Knave just stood there, like his life had ended, and slumped to the bed. I don't even remember if I said bye to Dempsey or just left him to hang up! We got a DVD on the laptop and both failed to fall asleep. It was the Vodka Redbulls.

We needed drinks and needed them now. It was now 6am and we was both telling the other to go get them, 7am, 8am, 9am... Then Jones finally gives in, runs down to the vending machine and gets the water & cokes! We can finally get to sleep now!

To be continued....

I have a video on my phone of the entire table of breakfast from Buddies that you guys bought and never managed to finish. It led to some funny times later on in the week when the owner was getting really agitated about taking orders that he obviously felt were "too much" for one person.

I nearly got banned from a poker site for doing that. It was at a 1c cash game and I raised 2c each time it got back to me, a buddy was doing the same and I folded when it got down to $4.98 for the crack. Lame.

Title: Re: A Windy Week in Brighton
Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on January 20, 2009, 05:36:13 AM
Tuesday

So after a relatively heavy Monday night, and only going to bed at 9am because of the standoff, there was no way I was going to be up early!

I was woke at sometime, which I don't know, by Knave puking! I know it was daylight, but I didn't bother looking at my watch, instead I just closed my eyes and put my head down again! I woke sometime around 6 I believe and saw Jones up and on his laptop on his bed still. I checked my phone and had a number of texts from Trigg wanting to play some pool somewhere, and Jones said that Trigg had also been trying to contact him.

We didn't end up going playing pool, we just got ready and went down the casino around 7 for the nights tournament. Trigg had started a book already now and we decided to lump in between us, asking special bets etc etc... Was one comedy moment where Trigg priced up a Last longer match bet between Knave and TommyC. Was so funny that when he wrote down Knave Evs, TommyC 4/6 our faces absolutely lit up. I asked him the max bet on that and he said £75, so i insta took £75 out my pocket and put it on leknave... Leknave moved into 10/11, so Brent had £75... Then Kellster went up and had £75 also at 4/6 (mug missed the price). Then Trigg pushes TommyC out to 6/4 so I backed TommyC for £60 to guarantee me a £15 profit, which was pretty hilarious! WP Trigg bookmakers!

Then Kellster came and shouted his mouth : "If anyone wants a match bet with me, i'll give them anything up to £500 @ evens". He wasn't expecting anyone to take him up on it, but I turned around and said i'll take £100 on Knave vs Him. And he thought and accepted, then Middy got involved for £200, so we had £300 on between us, it was pretty funny. So before the comp has started i've got about £265 worth of bets on, although I am guaranteed £150 back thanks to the Knave/TommyC bet.

I am sat at a table which included Kellster, and also the guy from the previous night with KT v my AK. This comp was also a non starter and I was out before the break despite it being a double chance! First my nut flush is no good against quads for my first lot. And my second lot I got in with 99 into the guy from Monday with TT. Who nitrolled me for good measure FWIW. The funniest thing was that Flushy had backed me to last longer than him, and when Flushy also busted before the break he couldn't believe that he wasn't going to collect on that bet!!

I went and watched Nicky, who was Heads up in the £200 by this point against Matt Perrins. He got a pretty toasty deal out of it when 5 handed and they had now made it HU playing for £1500 + the CofC seat. Sadly Nicky ran pretty bad, and lost 3 races when HU to finish 2nd. But obviously he was still happy with the  £5k he scooped. Me, Flushy, Nicky, and Nicky's friend whose name I have forgotten right now - but we shall call him Ned - went to the Pitcher and Piano for some cocktails.

I've never really had any proper cocktails, i'm quite simple that when I drink, it's Vodka Redbulls. So when Nicky ordered me in a Iced Tea thing I was a bit hesitant. Needless to say I didnt like it and would definitely not recommend it! It tasted like mould, and I don't know why on earth he likes it! Flushy and Nicky then introduced this drinking game.. The rules were.. When you finish your drink you MUST, tap someone on the shoulder with your glass once, Twirl it round in the air for two full circles, and then land it on the table smoothly, as though it was a helicopter... Slide it along the table, again without making banging sound and then stop, make two taps with the glass and let go. Failure to do any of the above would result in downing another of the drink you just finished! First to do it wrong was Trigg, when he finished with a treble tap, so he had to down his.

Flushy's girlfriend Lucy joined us at the bar, and when we finished a few drinks we went back a tad tipsy. We got back and ordered more drinks in and had a little table between us all. The night went on and we introduced the game to everyone else who joined us so nobody had any excuses. By this time most of us were out, TommyC, Middy, we were all drinking. Then late on a funny thing happened... I poured some wine for somebody and it accidently spilled a bit - this is punishable by the rules and I had to down a vodkaredbull. So I pick it up, gulp it down, and put it on the table. Nooooo! I didnt tap off and helicopter it. Obviously punishable once more by the same forfeit, these rules suck! The bar is now shut though, and I cant get another VKRB, so they pass me some wine, which I cannot drink at all, as it is disgusting imo! Then Ned (remember him from above) shouts, quite drunk, that if I paid him £3 he would do the forfeit. So obv I shipped him £3 and he downed the glass of wine, but forgot to tap like I also did! Hilarious, he didn't want to do another, but rules are rules. So we look around the table and all thats left is half a VKRB, and a bottle of beer. So he has the choice, he takes the beer and puts downs it, spilling a bit in process, but is let off! We all have a laugh and think nothing of it until moments later Jeff Kimber comes over looking for his beer!..

Apparently he had left Nicky to look after his beer and was fuming that it wasn't there when he came back! It was quite funny, and went on for a while with Nicky promising to buy him a beer but not realising the bar was closed! Eventually the days play ended and we all went round to buddies once more! I had the Ultimate, which I still need to upload onto my computer, whilst everyone else got there food too. We had a 5 way flip this time, with Flushy flipping two coins for himself as Lucy was there too. Obviously I lose once more and have paid a combined £140 in two days for two breakfasts! Marvellous!

It's then time to head home so we wander back to the hotel, with Jones making the second day again it meant me and Middy scooped on our bet with Kellster which was nice :) Brent also made the 2nd day which was unbelievable for some! Got back to the hotel, turned on a movie and fell asleep pretty soon after.

LOLL, i think everyone else lost in bets to him.

In the £200 i had Nicky at 13/2 to last longer when he had 5k, then in £300 had Brent to final at like 7's

[  ] shrewd bets
[X] coups landed
[  ] had more than a £10er on

Wednesday

I woke up around 4 I guess and Jones had already left by then for the 2nd day of the £300 which started at 2pm. I had a messed about online a bit before getting showered and dressed to go out. I assumed we were going out as there was no poker to be played that night apart from the £100r PLO.

I got to the casino bar about 6ish only to find Jones standing at the bar less than impressed and Brent sitting on the final! That was weird for one moment, I thought that roles should be reversed, but nevertheless it was true, and I asked Jones what happened. Apparently he got one outered for huuuuugggeeee dimes, which is pretty ugly by anyones standards. Brent was pretty comfortable on the final until just before the break when he ran AQblue into AKblack, he couldn't get there and he was shortest of 4 at the break. The rest of us (Me, Flushy, Knave, Middy, TommyC, Trigg and Nicky) were all starting on the drink now and having a laugh. The only one who hadn't shown his face was ChipRich.

After the break Brent ran his AJ on the bb into the button's AA. Not sure if the button had looked at both or not but he flipped his cards over with just one Ace showing and slid it to reveal the other one, it was a bit slowrollish but he claimed he didn't know what the other was. Either way it was gg Brent and 4th place just means you give all your money to Flushy to take off makeup - FYL. We was also around this time graced with the presence of Moorman, we just couldn't believe it! He only wanted a quiet one because he was leaving at 8am the next morning for Oz but we soon talked him out of that...

We all hit the drink now and Flushy played the £100PLO. We decided it was time to go to the Pitcher & Piano about half hour into it. We go round and get our cocktails and order in plenty of shots. Everyone is shown the drinking game, and can manage it, except for Moorman! He has had to down 2 mixers within the first half hour and by the time Flushy comes over with Dubai at the break he is swaying about plenty! Also with those two were dpomml, who was a nice guy. Dubai immediately bought about 20 Jagermeisters, 20 shots and 20 DVKRB. He then comes over and Flushy tells us he is in for £1500 whilst Dubai for £3k and they both have the minimum amount of chips!

It was absolutely Baller though when Dubai decides he cba going back to the tourn at the end of the break and just sits and drinks while the other two head back to the comp! Flushy arrives back about an hour later and that is when Dubai thinks he will go and play! There are some girls in the bar and some of the lads try to pull, only to fail. In a way anyway. Moorman is absolutely wrecked when closing time of 1am comes and so are the rest of us tbh! Jones has broken a couple of shot glasses - which is not a good idea, because that only results in the punishment that you must drink another shot!

We leave the bar and go to head to the casino, but somewhere between the 30 second walk some of us get split up. Me, Flushy, Trigg end up in casino, but the others end up somewhere else! We walk into the casino just as a big roar is going up! It's Dubai, and it's 32red. The guy had just won about £8k on the roulette and was well happy! Flushy and Martin Green cashed it in for him and we decided to go back to Flushy's to drop off Dubai's suitcase, then off to Oceana's. There was me, Flushy, Dubai, Trigg, Nicky, Martin Green, Pomml, and Kev Allen walking through Brighton as loud as anything!

We got back to Flushy's posh gaff and obviously the noise continued, walking through the courtyard waking probably every neighbour up on the way through! Dubai dumps his bags and we head down to Oceana's. It was pretty packed and the place is huge! Dubai strolls up to the bar, and as he cant get to the front, and has to stand behind these girls, he gives them a £100 so he can get at the bar! So com! He then goes and orders about 50 of everything, and not only that but he also buys some champagne. But, instead of drink it like most people would, he tips the barman £40 so he lets another barman pop the cork and spray it all over him! The cork pops into the poor barmans face and he gets soaked with champage, with us lot on the rail pissing ourselves and just shouting "OI OI OI OI OI ! OI OI OI OI !"

We was in here for a couple hours, and that included some comedy moves from Trigg. He tried doing a funny dance, fell over and turned it into a breakdance against the wall. It was a huge Fail at first but followed by a great recovery! We probably left at about 3.15 and headed straight back to the casino. There we found Jones and Brent and co sipping on some champagne. Dubai went and sat in a cash game out of his face and proceeded to raise blind bet blind every hand/street. One hand he even pushed for about £300 and before the guy had done anything he mucked his cards. Then said "I've shove/folded". The dealer then scoops the money to the other guy, who didn't have a clue wtf was going on! Later on Dubai tells me he was just balancing his shove/fold range. Fair enough then.

As the bar had closed by now we wanted something to do, so Myself, Nicky, Knave, Moorman & TommyC got a game going of £1/£1 just for a bit of fun between us. This was ok, Brent was dealing, getting tipped mentally by myself! Middy then decided to sit, cool, no probs. Bang went the sensible game and in came the gambling game. It was basically £100 in each pre every hand minimum 3 way. I have to say I quite enjoyed the game! At one point I was £900 up but didn't stop calling allin's blind. Jones limped for £1 on the button, Middy shoved the sb for £175ish, and I snap iso'd him blind, knowing my blind range is ahead of his shoving range! FML it turned out I had 34 to his 35green and he flushed anyway!

When they declared last hand it went mental, and we had a 6 way all in for minimum £150 each and everyone EXCEPT one person had put these in blind. Only Trigg looked at his cards before calling. So when he saw it come runner runner reds, he new his A7red had got there! MBSFN and he ended up about £600. I finished the game up £300 which I was happy enough with!

We all stumbled back to Buddies, and as Trigg won he said he would buy breakfast. So 8 of us went, and it was hilarious. We all ordered our stuff, most of us getting 2 drinks. And when Trigg wasn't listening I told them to order 2 more Ultimates just incase anybody wanted another! Obviously they wouldn't be eaten, but it is another £25 onto the bill! Our food came and within 3 minutes of it arriving we was out of there and George and Anthony (two dealers also eating on the next table), couldn't stop laughing as basically all we had ate was a fork full of our meals and left it! 10 meals hardly touched at all, gg Trigg and the £150 breakfast!

After the breakfast we couldn't be arsed to walk the 3 mins up the road and instead jumped in a taxi back to the hotel. As ChipRich still hadn't shown his face all night me, middy, tommyc, brent and jones decided we would follow brent to his room and bundle him when we got in there! This we did, and we was all happy now and ready to go to our rooms and to bed!

Thursday

So onto Thursday! I wake up once again to the sound of Leknave puking up, at around 3pm. He receives a phone call from TommyC asking if we want to go down to subways for some breakfast and we agree to meet him at the bottom floor.

We get what we want and start discussing what to do that night. Flushy originally wanted a stable meal, but I was hoping to get the a night at the dogs at some point as I had never been to Hove track! Leknave was well up for the dogs too, and TommyC. So we phoned around and told people we were going to the dogs and anyone that wanted to go should meet us in the Hotel Lobby before we leave at about 6.30.

We headed to the lobby, just the 3 of us, at about 4pm. Soon after Rich & Brent joined us. I got stuck into the fruity much to Rich and Brent's amusement! I finally got the £35 jackpot out and they began pissing themselves when I piled in again! I got the jackpot out the second time soon after and after putting about £120 in I was only £40 down, LOL. They were busy playing pool during this for some cash, and although me and Brent tried our best to cheat Rich in the last frame, Rich won it for a tenner. We had another drink whilst waiting for the others to come. Middy, TommyC, Me, Knave, Rich, Brent and Rick.

We got to the track around 15 minutes before the first race and got the drinks in. Middy just said he was gonna follow whatever I did from the get go. Knave & TommyC have no idea about there dogs and admitted this, and just followed whoever they thought would be best!

First race and I didn't pick the winner, I don't think anyone did. Then came the second race, where, for me and Middy, the ball started rolling! I made it between 2 dogs and couldn't go against the value that one of them was @ 7/1. I had £40 on it as did Middy and we binked it. Lovely!

Next race I got another winner, at a price I can't remember. But the following race was one to remember.... I said I strongly fancied the 2 dog, and the only other person who can actually read a card was Clam, and he agreed that that was who he fancied too. So Knave decided to start shouting coo! Lets get a coo going! LOL. So we all jammed our money on, I think I had £145 worth, and gave it to Trigg. We walked out at the start of the race and he got the total of £450 on at 7/2.

We went and stood by the finishing line at the top of the stairs. The race started, and our dog lead. It got round the 2nd bend, and I saw Rich look round at me for reassurance. I just said "if it gets beat from here I will cry". He smiled and as it was coming round the last the shouts of OI OI started happening. The grins and laughter when it crossed the line was brilliant!

We collected a fair few quid each and were all happy. The next few races Clam and I didn't fancy the same dog so no coo's were landed. That was until the 9th race. We got on, this time I put the bet on. And binked £450 at around 3/1. Then the 10th, £500 @ 9/4. Then the 11th £550 @ 7/2. And onto the last we were all cheery and jumping about, ready to lump on. I couldn't see past the 1 dog. It was upgraded, but young, and had improvement, as long as he turned the first infront I couldn't see much that could pick him up.

We got all our money in, and I stood outside by the bookies waiting for them to budge on the 3/1 currently up. They just stood and stared back, so when they were going in the traps I got our £700 on at 3s. I done the same walk as before, straight to the top of the stairs, and Knave and co waited for 6 paces before following each time! The only one who wasn't betting with our 'coo' was Brent. Who had decided from the off that he would bet against us just so he could laugh when we lost, only problem was, we didnt lose!

In the last he decided to back the 6 dog, and we learnt that some other poker players there backed the 6 too, for the sum of £1400 @ 9/4. The lids opened and the one got away cleanly, it went round the bend infront and I was pleased to see the 6 dog got a little touch at the first sending him slightly wide... Round the last bend and I started the chorus of OI OI's off. We were all in it. And Knave was now chanting "EASY EASY EASY", so of course we all joined in!

When I went to collect I got questions from the bookies! It was funny, who are you, where you from, etc. Including him offering to give us a taxi from our hotel to the track for Saturday nights meeting ! lol.

We got our money, headed back to the casino, where we went and ordered in 3 bottles of Dom Perignon and started supping away!

The night was still young though and we decided on getting a 1/1 game going again! The fun had just begun.....

Don't think I ever did upload that video.

I'll check to see if it's sitting in my iTunes account.

Did have a video from that GUKPT though - but it was just a drunk Antony the dealer and I encounter with a seagull at our hotel window.
