Murray as fav is wrong for me. He has the form but in the same way as Tiger attacks the majors in gold I think rafa and federer will step it up here. Beating both in the same grand slam is a huge ask. Surely too big for a Brit/scot (depending on outcome obviously!)

ok, ill put this in here aswell:

Federer is extremly opposable on current form, he has looked flat in the last few months, its worrying. 

Djokovic has been awful so far this season and was beaten comfortably by Gulbis a couple of weeks ago so i couldnt back him atm.

Nadal is my favourite player but has started badly this season going down without much fight against Monfils, and he hasnt seemed to hit top form again yet since his injury at the back end of the next year. If you get the chance to see him in the early rounds and appears to be close to top form jam on the 4/1 while you can. Otherwise, id leave it.

Murray is the clear form pick, but isnt for me at 11/4. He hasn't shown enough for me so far in Grand Slams/when it matters yet. I also think he will be stronger in the US Open. I think he could make the final but I'd have him at closer to 4/1.

I'd be tempted to advise a bet on Nalbandian. He won the ATP tournament last week so his price isnt overly attractive, but hes the one player outside of the top 4 that could beat anyone on his day, and at 33/1 on Betfair i think its worth taking a chance that he is "on an on day" when it matters. He beat Murray in straight sets towards the end of last season and has beaten Federer on many previous occasions. The only big worry is his recent record in grand slams, where although making the latter rounds, has been comprehensively beaten by Dancevic, Monfils and Ferrero. Can be brilliant, can be awful. I hope he is brilliant.

Other outsiders;

Monfils has a decent draw and as previously stated has beaten Nadal already this year but i wouldnt rely on him to repeat this in the quarter finals of a grand slam where he will meet the Spaniard.
Del Potro is interesting, but i don't believe hes quite good enough just yet.
Roddick doesnt quite have the top top quality in the latter stages anymore when the ball is in play.
Simon beat both Federer and Nadal last season but there is an argument to be had that he is better on a Indoor Hard Court. I also don't think he'll prove to be the same force this season.

If you used a base of a point as £50 for example, 2pts = £100, 0.5pts = £25, 0.25 = £12.50.

I think its a better way of keeping track.

You set how much 1pt is to you, depending on how big you bet. It might be £1, it might be £100. But it remains the same throughout.

Its basically a % of your bankroll, so for example Horneris is minted so say his roll is £100, then he's wagering 25p on Nalbandian to win it...

But a roll can also, say, be 50 points, its depends how cautious/crazy you are, exactly the same as a poker roll would work with buying into tourneys...

lol yeah he is, and i think hes underpriced because of the "backyard" factor. If he gets through i will probably be against him in the next round too. I watched his match against Bennetau in the Sydney ATP, and even tho Bennetau was struggling because of the heat he almost won it, and they were both making error after error after error. Gonzalez is a bit of a mug aswell but is decent in matches which turn into 4 or 5 sets slog and i fancy him to win it.

Apologies for my lack of intelligence,but can you put multiple bets on the tennis similar to a fourfold in football or is it just single betting in tennis

you can put multiple bets on, but i wouldnt advise following mine for that practice, i always seem to get at least 1 loser  :'(

People will be questioning my sanity here slightly, Roddick is 7-0 up on the Head to Head.
But Xavier still has it, he's always performed well in Grand Slams, and he took Llodra apart in the 1st round.
I just think the 7.4 available on Betfair is far too big. Roddick isnt all that.

Don't fancy much today, theres a lot of very short priced favourites. Tomorrow looks better and im already involved in one or two.

I might get involved in the handicap markets tonight; Chardy + 8.5 @ 9/10 with Boyles looks decent against Djokovic. Djokovic is not in rip roaring top form, and all Chardy would need to take that is 3-6,3-6,4-6 and hes no mug. Only putting up match betting tips on this thread tho.

1 set all now but Malisse has an early break in the 3rd - this one could go all the way.

Looks like it is all over now, Roddick broke back and won the tie break easily and now has 2 breaks in the 4th set.

I stated on here that he seems to always be shite or amazing, and when he got broken in the 1st game last night against Lu, i laid him for a wad @ 1.09 thinking he would be shite.

No upsets so far so that makes for some really good matches in the next couple of rounds. Only top 16 seeds missing from the last 16 are 10, 11, 15 and 16, and the quarter finals could well be the top 8 seeds.

yeah, Tennis (aswell as Racing) is my thing. A lot of the time the smaller tournament are easier to find winners, such as The Challenger Tourns and ATP tournament, but thought id have a go in the 1st Grand Slam of the year and going ok so far.

The kid who sits next to me at work is very good on the tennis too, and i often get decent opinions from him.

I'm working a lot of 2.30-10 shifts atm, so can stay up till like 7 to watch the tennis and sleep 7-1.30. Murrays gona be on at like 4.30 tonight i think.

And tempted to back Murray to win 3-1 in sets, because Verdy is in decent form and i can see him nicking at least one set.

Verdasco played well - Murray wasnt at this best and I think Simon could stop Nadal. (18/1.... 3-2 Simon)
My hope is Tsonga finally gives up on his back and Verdasco gets a tired Simon in the Semi.

On the other side Roddick has stepped up his game is serving well and seems focussed. Del Potro could upset Federer in a close one.

I'm pretty sure Tsonga will beat Verdy tonight and was going to put him up as a bet @ 8/13. But the highest he ever reached was 4/7, and i have to stick with my approach in taking what i believe is a decent price in the selections i fancy.

Have backed Nadal @ 1.87 to beat Simon 3-0.

He is looking in ominous form and is capable of blowing Simon off court if he gets of to a quick start.

The Verdasco v Nadal game is looking like a classic - although i think Nadal will come through and win it, Verdasco taking the first set is good for the neutral.

Verdy had me sweating, played excellently, like a new man

But anyone who serves 2 double faults in that last game at the very top level deserves to lose imo. Lost his bottle when it mattered most.

Yeah I agree - getting down to love - 40 on his serve put pressure on himself. He saved 2 match points then rushed his 2nd serve. Something you see club players doing on key points. He has too many flaws in his game to challenge the top 3 but he has improved immensely from 2008.
