I take the line that, early on, it's a case of survival, which means not putting all your chips on the line.

I am thinking i misclicked.

You don't want to be showdowning 99 ever in the early stages of sng for all your chips.

So therefore this must be a bluff and we are repping qq+ but we would really limp behind 1 other player with qq+, probably not so it isn't a very good bluff either.

With this line all better hands probably call, all worse hands probably fold = not a very good line at all. Unless it's very low stakes where the small pp, ace rag brigade are lumping it in you're hardly ever getting your chips in in front here.

Interesting thread as although different dynamics i made same type play with AQ in sunday 150 at dtd,i got called by AK and afterwards berated myself for a pretty shit play which it was.I think that taking this line your opp is never going to believe your really strong and AQ 99-1010 is the very top of your range when you make this kind of play so AK JJ-QQ is never or at least should never be making a laydown vs you here.

Yeah dislike this, very rarely getting called by 22-88 here, so you're picking up a paltry amount of chips at a very high risk.

Surely just a 3-4x open raise with 99 here?

For our first action, raising and limping are both ok plays with 99 here.

When it gets back to us, I disagree with above posters comment that the amount of chips to be won by shipping it in is paltry, but still, I do agree that shipping it in with 99 here is a probably a poor play.
(fwiw, If I play a hand with this exact line, I have AK or AKo close to 100% of the time)

Coz we're 4 way, and you will close the betting, flatting the raise to set mine is an ok play.

I misread how many limpers called the raise :)

Listen to tank he knows more about STTs than me...

That's just a bad play.

You should have one hand in the air as you snap this.

Ian, you seem to be struggling to recognise situations. all 3 hands posted in this thread are completely different yet from your posts it would appear that you think they're similar. the only similarity is that we have 99

in my op we have a full table with everyone playing deep and our hero goes for a squeeze play

in your first hand you're playing deepish and a shortstack has shoved so you should be iso shoving 99

in your 2nd hand it's you that is shortstacked and you've made a (correct) shove over a standard raise from a bigger stack

Title: Re: stt limp rrai squeeeeeze
Post by: cia260895 on January 20, 2009, 06:15:24 PM
in response the only reason i posted both hands was the relevance of the same hand being 99 as i said originally not a stt but apt due to being same hand, the 1st hand where i got told i should have shoved i didn't post anything on oppo's or how far off the money i was, which  was a deciding factor especially as i have been running real bad at the mo and just wanted to reach as deep as i could, and yes u are right that i am reading situations a bit wrong at the mo which is something i am trying to resolve,

but I will take all comments on board.
