I'm really interested as to how people think. Title: Re: Playing your set vs the big pair Post by: thetank on November 25, 2005, 07:46:54 PM Make the first bet.
You don't give free cards (on what is a dangerous flop) A strong player might have to raise you to find out where he is. This is good. A check raise will tip your hand off and give them a chance to lay down. This is bad. If they fold, ho hum, better than checking after you and outdrawing you for your stack. Title: Re: Playing your set vs the big pair Post by: ariston on November 25, 2005, 10:44:19 PM I almost always lead with sets especially if you have them on an overpair. They will reraise or go allin straight away and will be drawing to 2 outs in effect. If you flop a small set on a low board you have to lead because of the possibility of them having a hand like JJ, any A K or Q on the turn can stop you getting paid off.

Ive lost count of the ammont of times Ive tried to slow play and been beaten on higher trips or straights. :blonde:
