Ok, fist to fall was T Falla, taken out by J Atkin.

T Reardon was next to go with pocket 66s to Robert Binelli's 77

A Gomm went with AQ versus J Atkin's AJ. Flop KKJ...turn J.....river T so Andy makes a forlorn straight. The kid, who is chipped up to the eyeballs said he though he was up against AQ before he called but couldn't pass given the relative chip stacks.

Not sure who the 19th position finisher was.

Andy Wilson out in 18th. His AT all in short stack move got called by AK.

Andy is off to the states for a couple of months after next week's Newcastle festival so we won't be seeing him again until about February. I hope he has a good trip.

Liam Flood has now gone too. Short stacked he moved in from the button with 97 and was called by AJ....

16 left

They're on a break now.  Apparently the overnight chip stack info was wrong. Sami and Binelli's chips were the other way round.

Here's some counts.

J Atkin 200k
D Lloyd 100k
D Sami 80k (he says the poker gods are working...for him anyway)
Ash 26k, says he'll be all-in in a minute
Burnley J 29k

more to follow...

Craig (he knows it) 59k
Binelli 95k
Sami 95k (dealer count downs are so much more accurate than asking the players themselves...)
Rumit 26.5k

Bad news for Burnley peeps, good news for Italian Londoners.

Binelli takes out John Falconer

AT for John versus Robert's QJ

flop rag K9 turn T, river T and Burnley's trips are no good

Bit of an argument on the other table now...

S Lennon declares all in for 61k

Chicken Joe says he calls after asking how much and he's told its 61K

Lennon AK versus Joe's QQ

A comes and when they come to counting the chips, it turns out Lennon has 71k. The argument is whether Joe should be liable for the other 10k...

this was happening yeaterday the dealer was getting the all inn counts wrong i totally think this is wrong, they obviously aint trained properley and in big comps like this its essential that every thing is done correctley

Title: Re: Walsall £750 Day 2
Post by: Karabiner on November 25, 2005, 05:09:44 PM
Interesting debate that one.

I would guess that he is not liable for the extra 10k

Title: Re: Walsall £750 Day 2
Post by: AlrightJack on November 25, 2005, 05:10:55 PM
Too late for Ash I'm afraid.

He moves all in with queens, is called by Bambos with Aces and Binelli calls for the value with AQ

49K5T and Ash is out, Robert is damaged and Bambos is now well chipped up, having been the short stack at the beginning of the day.

Pandemonium still but the fall out from the Koumi Lennon hand settles down...Joe kept the 10k but went out a couple of hands later.

Wow, the Final 18 are dominated by blondeites - Good Luck to ALL of them.

I said in an earlier post, an hour or so ago, that this boy Atkin could be something VERY special, & I'm astonished by his progress, for one so inexperienced, been playing the game 5 minutes. Quite extraordinary lad.

And a big up to Jonathan Rabb (Alright Jack) for running this impromptu Live Update - well worth a litle plug for Blue Square.com!

But its back to Old Kent Road for David as he makes a move with AQ to be called by Atkin with AA...

10 left and we're hand for hand. The youngster has approximately 30% of the chips now...ominous...

Title: Re: Walsall £750 Day 2
Post by: AlrightJack on November 25, 2005, 05:27:07 PM
9 places get paid with £30k to the winner and £1500 for 9th.

They discussed a deal to give 10th some cash and Atkin is reluctant to agree to any more than £500, while £750 was being asked for. Sami on the other table says 'no deal' so they play on, cautiously for some...

Atkin count is 278k
Lennon has about 170k
Bambos 121k
IKI 80k

David Lloyd is not happy about his exit.

Atkin had limped on the sb to David's bb having been folded round. David moved all in with is AQ to be called by the bullets.  Another player congratulated James on his trap, which didn't impress David much...he's having a whinge with Chicken Joe now sat next to me...

Looks like they're trying to bully Atkin now, don't think they know much about his online calibre. They reckon he's just a lucky kid playing in a 'big game'...lolol

You could hear a chip drop here, very quiet as things get serious.

Craig has put down a hand to a Bambos reraise and now looks pretty glum, down to about 40k roughly.

I'm afraid I've made a bit of a booboo.  Have been referring to Lennon having lots of chips, when in fact its Dan Carter, a young chap sponsored by Jet Set Poker.  I may not be a great updater, but at least I'm humble...

Title: Re: Walsall £750 Day 2
Post by: AlrightJack on November 25, 2005, 06:10:46 PM
looks like 10th will get £750 now...Atkin and Sami have agreed. £450 off 1st, £300 off second..play about to resume. 10 players left.

Opinion here differs on James Atkin. Getting some commendations on his play, but some people saying he's just a lucky so and so.  I know what I think...well, it was me who persuaded him to play this week  8) ....sometimes there's no point being modest...

JP here filling in for AJ as he goes walkabouts

O Auegun reraises all in vs D Knight. AK for Auegun and D Knight reluctantly shows AT.

T on flop and O Auegun is our unlucky 9th place finisher and leaves to a round of applause. We now have our 8th place finisher as I slowly type......................

Title: Re: Walsall £750 Day 2
Post by: AlrightJack on November 25, 2005, 06:59:28 PM
Knight on the move again makes it 28k to play and D Carter moves in for 48k total and is called by Knight who has JJ.

Carter's AK doesn't improve and he is our 8th place finisher. Knight seems quite pleased with himself as he moves to about 200k.

Jonathon is still on the phone..................

Post by: AlrightJack on November 25, 2005, 07:15:07 PM
The blinds have just gone up to 5,000/10,000

James Atkin in the bb

Bambos flat calls, David Knight flat calls, D Clarke goes all in for 80k, James calls, Bambos and David pass. James asks 'you got aces or kings?' 'Nope' as he turns over KQ and sighs...as James has QQ!

6...A..2..........

King!

...5

James sighs even louder and shekes his head. But he's still on about 200k.

Bad news...

The very next hand Craig has A9 and is up against Hassan with AK. Missed the action, but a nine and a king came out to leave Craig as our 7th place finisher. He looks gutted, probably because he is. Well played Craig, keep knocking and the door will be opened soon.

James makes a 25k raise. Bambos goes all in for maybe 140k. James calls. The crowd draws closer as Mickey Wernick peers over James shoulder while I peer over Bambos's. Bambos has AJ, James has AK. 4 rags on the board and as the irrelevant king hits on the river James celebrates and accidentally smacks Mickey in the teeth...ouch for Bambos and Mickey.

'That'll cost ya a large whiskey' says Mickey.

'Technically it wasn't ABH unless you're bleeding' quips law student James.

With almost 400k in chips, he'll be hard to peg back now. 5 left.

Great updates Jon and thx to everyone  for their good wishes. You were right about being gutted as I never had AA or KK in 2 days and worked hard to survive, A9 in sb  vs AK in BB. when it was all passed round I decided their was only 1 move with my stack against the BB. how was I to know he would wake up with AK

Sami has eights, Hassan AQ

flop 7s Kh Kd

turn 2h

river Jh

and Hassan is our 4th place finisher, picking up £6,400

Next prize is £8,600 aqnd there's not a lot between all three of them, but Sami has a lead of maybe 40-50k

no cards shown but James piped up "you know what I had" after Knight fished for him to show

Sami sb 22k standard raise. Knight all in for 161k more. Sami stacks his chips, unstacks, then passes.

If sami does this it usually means he's passing

Title: Re: Walsall £750 Day 2
Post by: AlrightJack on November 25, 2005, 10:28:24 PM
James on 400k and the chip lead. Knight on 250k, Sami 350k. Knight is asking for a deal. James says no. Knight looks pissed off, makes some sort of 'if i ever see you again on a final table I won't deal with you if I'm in front' type comment.

Shame, there's no need to get arsey at this stage.

Continual aggression from Knight is paying off and he probably shades the chip lead now from James.

James makes his first move for a while and finds Sami with queens. James has QJ. Queens hold up and Sami now has the chip lead. James is down to his last 80k or so.

James is out next hand. AJ versus Knight's KK. He's very disappointed. Hasn't had many hands this last hour.

I've really enjoyed updating. Hope you've all enjoyed it too. Did I pass the audition?

James is gutted. He made a bad move at the wrong time, but two third places out of three ranking events, I'd take that any day, so would most.

Watch out for him in tomorrow's biggie. Write him off as a lucky internet player at your peril.

Tomorrow I expect Jen will be in the hot seat, but I'll have my laptop here, so I dare say I'll do some updating too.

Yup, he passed the audition!

Yes, Jen is in the chair on Saturday & Sunday, with a nice new assistant who is going to give Updating his first try- no point in keepng a dog & barking yourself, eh?

I'm assuming you are referring to James Atkin here. If so, then I second that. He's an awesome young player with plenty of potential. Plus, he's a nice lad to boot.

Lol thanx guys,

Jimmydean is a good player but when he's terrible it seems he gets lucky

e.g. i have Ad Qc, he raises preflop, i 3 bet, he calls.

Heads up the flop is Js 3h 4c, i bet he raises, i reraise cos i think my hand is good, he calls

Turn is a Ad, I bet, he reraises, i 3 bet, he calls. turn is a  Qd. I bet, he raises, I call.

He flips over........... Kc Th

those are hard to take at 150/300!!!

anyway catch you guys around
cheers,
MC

Yeah he doesnt have a slow down button!!

But then i guess thats common in the game.

I know i for one would love it if at some time you got over to the hand analysis board and posted a couple of hands from the 150-300 games, they are quite crazy looking to us mortals!
