Legendary boxing commentator and journalist Reg Gutteridge has died after a short illness aged 84.

Big shame, legend of the booth.

My fondest memory is without doubt during one of Nigel Benns early fights. Benn had been destroying all comers and was up against an equally doomed journeyman, during the fight Gutteridge said something along the lines of 'this lad has got no chance really' at which point the aforementioned journeyman appeared to turn round and look down the ringside "I think he heard you say that Reg" said his co commentator, at which point Nigel Benn twatted him in his distracted face and I think he knocked him out (he certainly did later in the fight)

Im gonna look through my old boxing vids today to get the name of the opponent and see if its on youtube
