Title: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: tikay on November 25, 2005, 05:31:17 PM During this week's Monte Carlio Millions, in the Consolation Final, a lad called Rammid - lovely chap, perfectly mannered - showed his hand when he passed it, not realising there was still a player to act brhind him. He got given an immediate 10 minute "sit-out". The TD was Matt Savage, assisted by a guy called Dave Lamb, who, I'd offer the view, is one of THE greatest TD's in the world.
If only - IF ONLY - we had more TD's & Carroom Managers who would show a little authority by imposing penalties. If they did but realise it, a few Bans would improve player discipline IMMEDIATELY - and it's costs nothing! I can't actully recall EVER seeing a player given a time penalty in the UK. Is this because the dear old Gaming Board nee Commission does not allow it, or do our guys not consider it a useful tool? I guarantee that if a cardroom DID impose penalties, many of the problems we debate on here - collusion, cheating, ( &, arguably, "improper behaviour"...) would soon disappear. Title: Re: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: dik9 on November 25, 2005, 05:40:34 PM Tikay we can and do (but very rarely)! As long as it is stated in rules (which it is). Number of penalties range from time outs to yellow cards , warnings , exclusion from comp up to exclusion from casino.
Title: Re: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: RED-DOG on November 25, 2005, 05:50:02 PM Don't misunderstand me tikay, I agree with you, but part of the reason more casinos don't use the 10 min rule is because their players are regular customers where as in the Monte Carlo they are one off visitors
Title: Re: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: tikay on November 25, 2005, 06:02:42 PM Good point Red, but the "injured party/parties" might ALSO be regular customers.
Title: Re: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: dik9 on November 25, 2005, 06:08:18 PM It should be used more often, but it has to be consistent, if people get away with worse on somebodies days off it turns into a joke! ;scarymoment;

Post by: Div on November 25, 2005, 09:04:53 PM Tikay do you know of any player given a 10 Penalty in a WSOP event Sorry if i'm talking rubbish Regards M ;) Mike Matusow got several concurrent ones in the main event for dropping the 'F-bomb'. Title: Re: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: Royal Flush on November 25, 2005, 11:26:23 PM lol yes Matusow got 1 for swearing then swore about how stupid this was, the floorman then told him to calm down, at which point he told the floor to f**k off, he then managed ti throw the F in again and got a 40 minute penalty!!

Title: Re: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: BlueWolf on November 26, 2005, 12:28:04 AM I've always been in favour of the "sin bin" but in order for it to work you need all Supervisors to work to the same level, theres no point 1 supervisor imposing a time ban when another will lwet it go another day. This is pretty much how i got my (apparently)ogreish reputation as a supervisor as i believe that certain things should be clamped down upon, but depending on where you are certain factors (weak managment,PR bollocks etc etc) can end up preventing actions like this taking place. What people need to realise is that by showing that certain things wont fly in the cardroom long term it will have a greatly positive outcome, yes you may annoy a few in the initial transition period especially if its a break from the norm but we do these things to make the game better for ALL players and its never personal or a power trip as some suggest i'd treat any player the same no matter who and at what stake they play and as i've said before i'd DQ my own mother if i had to lol

Post by: tikay on November 26, 2005, 12:29:32 AM Tikay do you know of any player given a 10 Penalty in a WSOP event Sorry if i'm talking rubbish Regards M ;) Remind me M Ppwer...... hehe. For those not in the loop, that was me. And BEFORE any bright spark gets all clever, I am NOT the 95 year-old that Bradley refers to! Now that WAS funny. This guy of 95 inadvertently swears, gets banned, does not quite comprehend what he's done. He can't walk either, so he gets bodily lifted from the table, by the elbows, legs swinging...... What a memory! Title: Re: 10 Minute Penalty - More Please! Post by: wsopin07 on November 26, 2005, 01:40:22 AM and to think I have never had a 10 minute penalty in my life, poker life that is, I had to many to count in my hockey days /:-| :)up
