Title: Two hands which have haunted me for ages Post by: Muso-Tim on January 31, 2009, 11:15:37 AM Here are two situations which happen from time to time:
First: In early position, six seated table, first level of a tournament. All have about 3000 chips. Blinds at 10/20. I pick up Ad Kc and raise to 100. As so often happens early in a tournament I get two callers behind me. 330 in the pot. Flop is Ks 9s 5d. Obviously I want to price the flushes out of the market. I make a pot sized bet which is flat called by one and the other folds. All ABC so far. Turn is 6s. What should I bet now? Second: In middle position, six seated table, early levels of the tournament. Chip stacks range from 2000-4000, blinds at 20/40. I pick up Aspades Ac and raise to 120. Button and BB call. 380 in the pot. Flop comes down Jh 7h 4h. BB pushes all in (say 3500), has me covered. Actually I fold but could he do that with, say, top pair (AJ)? I don't hate the check behind to call a bet on the river.
Hand two you should be calling imo. He probs has a pair/flush draw combo which you're a coinflip against, but there's a reasonable chance he has the bare Ace hearts, and best case scenario he could even have something like AJ with no heart. I think most ppl check raise a set, though a 2 pair shove is possible. Title: Re: Two hands which have haunted me for ages Post by: TightEnd on January 31, 2009, 01:27:33 PM these hands haunt you?
second hand what do you know about BB? would he stack off with AJ? of Ace hearts? what is your image? I'm usually a caller in that spot in hand two, less likely to be a made flush than one of the other hands above Title: Re: Two hands which have haunted me for ages Post by: Royal Flush on January 31, 2009, 02:38:17 PM Hand 1, like James says why do you bet pot, i would bet between 1/2 and 2/3 pot.
Hand 2, raise one hand in the air as you press the call button, folding her is terrible.
