Title: £100nl live Deep how to proceed?
Post by: gribbo on February 02, 2009, 05:01:55 PM
Playing usual game 6 handed for a few hours, Hero: £265 bought in for £50 and managed to run it up been playing a more aggressive game than usual re-raising a lot more preflop and winning a lot of pots betting/double barreling.

Villain has around £240 and has just doubled up with AA vs KK preflop has been playing tight solid poker and not shown  any hands at showdown other than the double up mentioned. Previous to this hand I have re raised him a few times in position and raised him when he limps.

I am on the button with  Js Ts, Villain is UTG + 1 and raises £3 I re-raise him to £13 he calls. Heads up to flop.

Flop comes  Ks 9s 3d

He bets into me for £20.

Whats best plan here considering stack sizes/ hand strength, position etc?

Kieran

I think I flat here with 250bbs each. If you raise his flop bet and he moves in its a horrible spot.

i like call best, our hand will be disguised and we are too deep to stackoff here versus this villain (who's range for stacking is tiny and includes mainly dominating flushdraws and set).

Thanks for the comments...

I raised on the flop to £50 and felt that the opponent was going to check  a high % of the turns if he called the flop. I was just hoping to try and get to see the river card for free instead of me calling £20 then him betting £40+ on the turn, which I'm in a tricky situation if he does. I didn't think he was going to bet the turn if he was raised on the flop. I was planning on folding if he moved in on the flop.

Anyway the river was the  5h it went check, check and the river was the  As he bet into for me for £50 and i shipped the rest of my stack in. Guy tanked for a few minutes before folding  Ad Kd.

As for the re raise preflop bolt, i thought it was good with the stack sizes, i was in position and it added some deception to my hand, but its not something i would try that much with a 100BB stack.

 Aspades on the river

mbsfn.

seems like a nightmare hand to me. Not sure how I'd have played it.

I'm surprised at oppo calling your reraise with AK on the turn. What's he hoping for on the river?

Just out of curiosity what do you do here without the flush? Do you still bang it in to get him to fold?

Also why the shove? Do you not think you could get paid by a smaller raise? We already know that this oppo is nitty so you're risking scaring off a lot of hands that should pay you off, his two pair for example.

I probs raise the flop too, and would be prepared to ship it in

I like the check back on the turn, but as Evilpie says, I think a raise to £120 rather than the full £180 you had back would have been a little better.

Its £0.5/£1 blinds i play at the local casino, Alex I wouldn't have re raised preflop if i had £100 in front of me just because the guy was fairly tight and also with the stack sizes etc, if I had though the money would have went in on flop.

As for the raise size on the river, I felt that it would come across as mega strong if i raised him to say £110/120 as opposed to just jamming. When he called the flop I had to put him on a big King, or a set and didn't see him leading the turn, felt he would have went for the C/R.

If the river bricks and he leads for £50 I'm folding every time, I was surprised that he folded the Ad  Kd tbh. Thanks for comments.
