Title: West Indies v England 1st Test
Post by: Matt50 on February 04, 2009, 11:26:03 AM
Today sees the start of the first test between W Indies and England at Sabina Park.
The last 10 tests at Sabina Park have seen a result (the one previous to that was the abandoned match between Windies and England) so i have layed the draw massively at Betfair @ 3.1.

I cant understand how the draw can be a little over 2/1 given recent results there, nothing to suggest that the pitch has dramatically changed and only a couple of light showers forecast.  Along with the fact that neither England or the Windies bat all the way down.

It is apparantly a very flat pitch but you are probably right I would be suprised if there wasnt a result

1st team 5 wicket haul

Edwards 2.75

Does well against England and if he is on form will be far most likely.

Any player to take 10 wickets in a match 2.25

Fancy the Windies to do this as they don't have a great crop of bowlers which means Edwards or Taylor may do this at least once if not more.

Edwards to score more batting runs (series) than Panesar 1.8

More Batting should see this come in easily.

Taylor to get more wickets than Harmison 1.9

More bowling and less competition for wickets and guaranteed to play if fit. Harmison isn't but needs to play twice or it's void.

Series wickets

Panesar 12.5+  2.0

Taylor 12.5+ 1.72

Edwards 12.5+ 1.83

Series runs

Chanderpaul 320+ 1.83

Are you sure he isn't English, he certainly throws away an innings like his English.

If he was properly English he wouldn't have got caught trying a big shot for his century - he's have gone nibbling at one he should have left alone outside off stump.

He wouldnt have got to 97 if he didnt play his own game!  You sound like Boycott moaning at him!

Flintoff is very much worth his play too, one of the top half a dozen quick bowlers in the world and an exceptional catcher. He underachieves with the bat obviously but he'd get in any team in the world.
