Title: Tonight's WSOP 2005
Post by: snoopy1239 on November 26, 2005, 01:52:10 AM
Watched the show at 10pm on Challenge, and, quite frankly, was amazed.

First off, this poor fella holds  Tc Td and reraises Sammy Faha's As Ts preflop raise. Flop is  Ad Ac Th!!! All the money goes in on the turn, Sammy doubles up and the young newbie is devestated.

What's worse is it was the first hand!!! Ouch. What can he do?!

Secondly, the quality of play wasn't high. I couldn't believe how poor the standard was at the tv table. One hand saw Negranu's preflop raise with  Kc Kd get flatcalled by  Qh Tc. A queen high flop came and Negranu's two bets were flatcalled all the way to the river where the newbie spiked a third queen. Ouch. The newbie then checked his trips. Passive or what? He may have been trying to trap on the river, but, I really doubt it. Quite impressive that Negranu spotted the danger and managed to check the river too.

Thridly, why do ALL the hands televised have to be involving the faces only. Would it hurt to have the odd hand involving the amatuers. It might be interesting. Some of the can actually play you know!

Forthly, I like the commentators, but they don't half suck up to the faces. Negranu always seemed to be chasing half-baked draws when he couldn't really afford to, but the commentators simply said that he'd played perfectly and just got unlucky.

Finally, I'm sure I caught a glimpse of Rob Yong. I guess that makes him a tv star now!

Did any1 else catch tonights edition?

ps. I enjoyed the show and will record it at the weekend.  :)

All WSOP commentary is inferior to old LNP shows IMO.

Some of Barney's commentary could be brutally honest at times which is sometimes needed.

i thought sky sports got the comentary right on thursday night
although i didnt see the whole show i felt it was near perfect with
2 comentators helping you through the action without becoming part
of the action themselves (a bit like jesse and nic in the early LNP shows)
then into the studio where the pros were able to deicuss the game in
a calm and education manner more shows like this will bring me back
into the tv audience

I fell asleep after the first few minutes and woke up to Casino Casino, I thought I had died and gone to hell.

How far did the prog take you, was it just the first day?

I agree what you mean about sucking up to the faces. All those people there and the camera shows an empty chair saying this is where Negranu will be sitting, wtf is that about, how about showing more of the people who bothered to realise what time it started.

Oh I just managed to catch Faha cracking that guys Aces with 33s. It wasn't if he was slow playing the Aces, raised 1000 with blinds of 25/50.

I really enjoyed this program, not least because they showed the back of me for about a milli second. Even though I played like a wimp and busted out at midnight I look back on that day as being one of the best ever.

The only TV action I get in the main event is during the "flushy award", maybe thats because I lasted about 30 minutes in the main event???? :blonde:
