We've been thinking about contingencies which may include delaying the start for example. Please follow the APAT forum for any news tomorrow.

For now, I'll think about how I can get there. Where's the shovel?

Instabok. No point me even going now!

Seriously - I am very disorganised. I will be cancelling clients for tomorrow as no one can get in. I can leave early tomorrow if need be rather than my normal leaving 40 mins for an hours journey and getting there as the first cards fly. I don't have a room booked as I was thinking if I make second day I could go home and then drive back in the morning.....

I live junction 15 of the M1 - anyone got any thoughts on best plan....I am being indecisive!

Ok - thought about it.

1. Leave early tomorrow. 10am ish
2. Arrive just as cards fly at 4.
3. Play like a donkey
4. Get knocked out in first level
5. Make way to bar.
6. Leave bar at closing time attached to another drunk apater and after 5 hours of walking in the wrong direction make it to the village hotel
7. Sleep
8. Be grumpy and drive home in time for 11pm having achieved nothign apart from a hangover.

Sorted.

Trace, I would have thought the trip from Northampton to Walsall will be easy - as the roads around the North of Brum are very clear - especially the M6.

Clearly you haven't seen the weather around Northampton and MK today (he says from home having been advised by work not to travel).

Is the M1 to the M6 bad?  I know the local roads might be bad, but the motorways are clear aren't they?

Of course you shouldn't go to work.  Essential journeys only - such as for poker tournaments...

The problem is getting to the motorways.  I imagine it'll get easier as the roads get bigger but the first few miles are the problem.

M1 ok I think - locally - the A45 the main road out is littered with abandoned cars and lorries not able to go up the hill. Bus crashed into lorry so road now apprantly completely blocked. Trying to find a flat road out which is a bit difficult as the town is in a dip!

It would of course be quite improper of me to have a wager on the outcome of this Event, & I shall not.

However........

What price Kinboshi - aka Daniel Phillips - the first APAT United Kingdom Amateur Champion - repeating his 2007 victory?

Any serious punter ought to be seriously tempted at a price for Daniel above 500/1. (To Final).

Just curious. ;)

I don't know how to respond to this as I don't understand it. Anyone translate from de kidz to grinder please?

Bubble = bubble and squeek = cheek.
Or bubble and strife = wife?
Or bubble  = Greek

None of which makes sense.

And for the record I am a grinder - no action here.

That's just incredible. DingDell Rhyming Slang at it's best.

FWIW, "wife", in Cockney Rhyming Slang, is known as "trouble". Please don't try & work out why.......

Bubble bath = Laugh

Ok - I'm offended. Marvellous. Tilted before I get there.

[ ] I love you Alex

are you mental? i want to bet on you because i think you will have a huge edge on the field (thats a good thing btw). doesnt mean im gonna put on a ridiculous bet when actionman is making you an outright favourite (probably because he booked a lot of previous action).sigh.

if people are serious about putting a bet on, ill need a rough idea of the field size. And since ive no clue on most of the field, dont expect a true reflection.

Pm kev, flushy, or the boyband for my number and give me a ring if you want to bet on anything poker related.

your money must reach me by the time the event starts or your bet wont be on. cheers

Due to be 200, it's oversubscribed and alternatives allowed. However who knows how the weather will affect turnout.

Field size is 200 max (filled) plus alternates - approximately 5/6 at the most I reckon. Sometimes it's 1, sometimes it's loads, depends on styles of play at the start. Field's quite strong for an amateur event.

Des has said tough luck, if you can't get there because of weather and don't arrange seat sale before the start to be approved by APAT, chips will be blinded away.

Ah - I thought 50/1 was not good odds. Beating in mind I don't understand odds that well you may want to rethink your betting....

Neither. It's old Skool betting terminology.

Take a guess at it's meaning.

No, if that were true, you'd be one of the rags.

The rate the snow is falling I may not be even going - it's a winter wonderland in Northampton!

Yes, I am watching train departure boards with increasing sadness.

Stupid snow.

After all my apprehension about the journey, once I got on the delayed train, it took me just 2hr 20min to get from Euston to inside my room at the Village hotel. Not only that, but connecting train heaven meant I only spent about 90 seconds in Birmingham New Street station, which is a result. As is my hotel room having free wi-fi plus sky sports on the telly which means I can watch the cricket.

Translation  "My train journey lasted longer than I will last in the APAT tourney".

Good Call Andrew, you are getting down with your Railway Station Ratings now.

Birmingham New Street is Network Rail's answer to Luton Airport - it sucks. Dark, dingy, poor train viewing choice, (so many of Wooly Jumper's Plastic Trains), bare concrete, no platform furniture, lacks character. In fact, you run bad, because Euston sucks, too.

I plan to arrive at The Village at around 11am Saturday, to prepare for the big day, & hook up with Central Command (Des & Tighty) - mine's a pot of tea, please.

See you there.

Free wifi at the Village? Sweet, that's one question answered.

See you in the morning :)

Ah yes - just remembered Andrew T told me he was looking forward to a lie in on Saturday morning.
To help me in my quest in beating him at poker tomorrow I'm suggesting a series of phone calls and knocks at his door starting from 6am.

Please sign up here.  ;D
