Title: Arrrgh, What do you do here...
Post by: Amatay on February 12, 2009, 01:34:54 AM
I dont have the HH but this is pretty much what happened.....

50/100 my stack 2.2k or there abouts

4 fish limp and i decide to peel on the button with QJ. Would you do this btw??? Is this a mistake

The sb completes and bb checks.

seven take a flop of  Q8J rainbow flopping me top 2 pr.

Checks to me and i bet 500 into 700. the sb and bb both flat.

king pops on the turn which aint great and the sb checks but the bb fires out 600 and has me slightly covered. i have about 1.7k back so its obv shove or fold. Is this an obv blast?? Should i have ever got invloved in this hand?

I find these spots tough to play esp when i bet and get called the then the flop callers donk lead the turn like this.

After 4 limpers calling from the best seat with a drawing hand is ok imo. But I don't like the betting 500 into 700. It's like a bet that really wants to take this pot down. A bet you could make with atc, when in reality you have top 2 pair on a rainbow board. You don't say what the other stacks are but the 500 bet is about 25% of yours. Will villains make a mistake and call 25% of their stack with a worse hand than yours with loads of active players behind? That would be a pretty bad mistake imo. The bet size also gives villains less room to raise you with worse. I would bet 250 on the flop. You make things tougher for yourself by betting so much into a limped 7 way pot and giving yourself less room to manoeuvre. Keep the pot small and see what action the turn card brings imo.

seriously? if you're going to raise here there's no point making it any less that about 650/700. do you really want to commit 1/3 of your stack here?

Not with my stack, i might aswell blast if i am gonna raise pre.

Any other thoughts on this hands. Should i have just folded pre. Its ipoker btw so other stacks as not too disimiilar from mine as with this site anyone with over 30 bb's usually has a monster CL and 15bb's is about chip av

Do you really want to play flops multiway with QJ and 22 BBs ? Especially if you're not suited ? This is another classic "trouble" hand.

Folding is your best option or I quite like Greek Steins play occassionally raising a large amount pre representing pockets aces depending on table and my image. You would then move-in on this flop if called. I like this more than trying to hit a flop with QJ then flopping top 2 pair and having no idea whether I'm good.

Ask the guy wtf he is doing/has and that you are the "blogfather", jam it in regardless and fill up on the river against his straight!

Nah I would raise it preflop and obv  play for stacks on the flop.

In the current situation im getting the stack in.

If I think they're all folding why not? 7 bbs dead money in the pot - I'm taking it.

so what's wrong with raising with QJ here? In a limpfest crapshoot I'm taking the dead money here if I really feel my oponents aren't tricky and limping with monsters.

yes but in ipoker games i wouldnt be suprised if you get a caller with atc , you cbet flop and your committed imo. i would tend to just pass pre but then again im a nit

Do you ever play on ipoker?
