Title: The case of the case
Post by: The Camel on February 13, 2009, 05:56:30 PM
So, I went on holiday last week. It was delayed by 2 days because of the snow.. but we still had a fantastic time in Barbados (brag post obv), the first non poker trip I've taken for many years.

However, one cloud has appeared on the horizon since I got home.

My trusty old case was looking a bit tattered and torn and as we were going to a pretty posh resort I decided to invest in a posh new case. £90 I'll have you know.

But something strange happened to it on the way home. It arrived on the carousel looking like it had faced 8 rounds with Joe Calzeghe... There was a big dent in the side, one of the wheels had disappeared and the handle was hanging off.

I was heartened by the fact I remembered there was a 7 year guarantee on my lovely new case and I returned it to the store today to claim a shiny replacement..

only to be told

"THE GUARANTEE DOES NOT INCLUDE AIRPORT DAMAGE"!!!!!!

wtf?

Where else is it going to be damaged exactly? Sitting under my bed at home when I'm not travelling perhaps? Or in the taxi on the way to the airport maybe?

The cheek of offering a guarantee which does not include a products most obvious use is beyond ridiculous, and I am officially on tilt for the rest of the weekend. Perhaps I can claim for losses on pokerstars due to mental stress...

You should have went directly to the airline desk, explained the situation and it would have been replaced(if it was a big airline)then and there.Stacks of cases of all shapes and sizes are held there,if not your brand the exact one would have been found.Once youv'e left i don't think you have a leg to stand on,i doubt this is covered by your travel insurance.

I did consider this at the time, but there was already a big queue at the desk and we were knackered after a long flight. I knew we had a guarantee on case and assumed it would be replaced.
