Title: what would you do???cash live... Post by: sofa----king on February 16, 2009, 04:03:15 PM just a quickie, been slightly bothering me..
$5-$10-stradle$20 i raise to $70 to play with 9h Jh 4 players get to see a flop pot is now about $300 flop Kh 3s Th check, check, there is a bet of $150,,, then i raise it to $400...... THEN player 1 cracks it up to $800 (with about $1200 behind) player 2 goes all in for $900 odd player 3 folds back to me now i have about $1500 left......what do i do?????what would you do??? i rarely ask a question but i thought i should ask this as there was a lot of oooohhhhhhssss and ahhhhhssssss... i will post what happened after your views......by the way the table was quite tight, and not very good players... Title: Re: what would you do???cash live... Post by: Robert HM on February 16, 2009, 04:05:33 PM I'd cry, a lot.
Title: Re: what would you do???cash live... Post by: boldie on February 16, 2009, 04:21:10 PM I'd cry, a lot. this. I'd think my FD was dead...so fold for me. (unless one of the players is really bad in which case I'd ship it in) Title: Re: what would you do???cash live... Post by: daviebhoy on February 16, 2009, 04:29:31 PM I guess it depends on whether you have 12 or 3 outs. From the action the other players are going to showdown and you are probably best cutting your losses because you are 50/50 some of the time and way behind the rest of the time.
Title: Re: what would you do???cash live... Post by: MC on February 16, 2009, 04:36:20 PM Wow, interesting spot
2 things to worry you: If there is a higher flush draw out there, if there is a set out there. JQhh, AQhh, AJhh are obviously no brainer all-ins, but this isn't so clear cut... To call the flop bet is $500 into a pot of like $2500 If raiser to $800 had shoved it would be $1600 into a pot of $3700, so could consider it effecitvely over 2 to 1, assuming player 1 always calls your shove.... Or we could pass. Definitely the safe option here. I'm not a huge fan of the play, but maybe getting 5-1, you could argue just to call and see the turn? I don't know if this is better than folding, but perhaps it's better than shoving? Title: Re: what would you do???cash live... Post by: boldie on February 16, 2009, 04:39:18 PM would you still get paid you if hit if you flat call here?

Pardon ? makes perfect sense to me... of-course if i flat call i might aswell push as the next bet from the bettor would move all-in im sure,, so if i did hit my fd,,the guy who cracked it up first cant pass as he would then be getting around 6-1.. Are you talking about preflop? Cos surely he's only allowed to call the extra $100 and can't raise on top of it? Title: Re: what would you do???cash live... Post by: sofa----king on February 16, 2009, 05:17:21 PM ANSWER ...i didnt call as i put the main bettor on a set 10's which i was right...
but i put the other guy on aq hearts which was wrong he had a set of 3's lol a few good players said i should have called as one guy put them both on a set and said i should have called as thier hands were allready made...(i said yes but with improvement) any way i passed so my hand Jh 9h flop Kh 3s Th player 1...... 10,10,10 player 2....... 3,3,3 me Jh 9h i passed turn 5c RIVERRRRRRRRRRRR Qs I KNOW i would have hit my inside straight for a nice pot,but i can't get it out of my head that i should have called.. there was a similar hand later where i raised with 6 3 off suit 5 callers flop was 6 3 4 rainbow,a few checks i raise then get re-re-raised,i pass to see them both turn over the straight for a split pot.lol,,,yet everyone said i was right to fold this after a re-re raise... Post by: MC on February 16, 2009, 05:24:09 PM ^^gotcha...fair point
The fold isn't bad man. You only know you should've called based on their hands. In some odd way, them both having a set is almost best case scenario. Less likely the board will pair, no blockers to your straight/backdoor draws. Title: Re: what would you do???cash live... I don't know if this is better than folding, but perhaps it's better than shoving? The problem with this play is that if player still to act has a made hand he is shoving and you need to call then to see the turn. The only time the player who is still to act lets you see the turn for free is when he also has a draw which is clearly a worse situation than when he shoves his set/2 pair. Apologies if I have read this wrong and we are last person to act in which case I'd agree there is some merit to just calling and seeing the turn when we are getting 5-1 on the call. This isn't true, there is effectively no more action once you call! the guy who raised you can only call the all-in, he can't raise on top of it. Therefore you are guaranteed to see a flop!
