Title: Heads up, who gets the first card? Post by: Legionnaire on February 18, 2009, 04:41:13 PM We all know Heads Up the SB is the button, but who gets the first card?
One of my Card Room Supervisors thinks it should go to the Button/SB: "you always deal the first card to the SB", another Supervisor thinks it should go to BB:"first player after the button gets the first card"? I know what i think, but i promised the Supervisors I'd ask you guys........... Title: Re: Heads up, who gets the first card? Post by: turny on February 18, 2009, 04:48:21 PM you dont always deal the first card to the sb but you always deal it to the first position after the button so the bb gets the first card in this scenario

Title: Re: Heads up, who gets the first card? Post by: AndrewT on February 18, 2009, 04:51:33 PM I'm guessing the bar for Card Room Supervisors isn't set too high if the first one managed to make it.
Which other basic rules of the game do they not know? Title: Re: Heads up, who gets the first card? Post by: gatso on February 18, 2009, 04:55:28 PM sigh

Post by: phatomch on February 18, 2009, 05:15:14 PM LOL, This reminds me..... GUKPT Leg 1 Season one at Grosvenor Bolton, its heads up between Karl and Praz I am commentating on the final, we have all worked 80+ for the week and we are shattered. 1st hand I think I see the dealer dealing to the sb first, nah cant be I am just tired and missed the deal. 2nd hand now I am sure he dealt to the sb first, i'll pay proper attention next hand.....Yep 3rd hand he does, that little fucker of a dealer is dealing to sb first on a Telvised final table.
I punch the dealer in the back of the head to stop him and explain he argues "thats how he's been taught" aaaggghhhhh anyway he's a good enough dealer he just listens to what I say and does it. When all finished I accost all dealing staff and ask "who do you deal to 1st heads up" everyone of them had been taught to do it by the Cardroom Supervisor.. Ian (td of gukpt) sigh fml but we showed him the error of his ways and like a true bloke he totaly denied he had taught his whole staff to do it and blamed it on someone not there. In my young Card Room Supervisors defence, he's not the only one who believes dealer gets first card! http://www.learn-texas-holdem.com/questions/dealer-button-position-heads-up.htm Title: Re: Heads up, who gets the first card? Post by: gatso on February 18, 2009, 10:42:12 PM no, sadly hu seems to be something a lot of cardroom staff struggle with. twice in 2 seperate grosvenors I've had to explain to dealers that the button is not also the bb hu
Title: Re: Heads up, who gets the first card? Post by: relaedgc on February 18, 2009, 10:44:44 PM I fail to see how Ian can be blamed for some dealer doing that, given that we come from different clubs and he isn't responsible for training dealers for Grosvenor.
Title: Re: Heads up, who gets the first card? Post by: Legionnaire on February 18, 2009, 10:45:30 PM When i first started dealing in Card Rooms back in 2000, our Supervisor, who was Gala trained, insisted on Big Blind Button Heads-Up, or BBB as she used to call it :(

Which other basic rules of the game do they not know? tad harsh Legionnaire and his team at the Nash work hard and run a good room. Nobody who's played there has a bad word to say about the place. Bause Ian was the Cardroom Supervisor for Bolton Casino therefore he did train all the staff there, ergo his fault Title: Re: Heads up, who gets the first card?
