Title: Oscars Post by: bolt pp on February 22, 2009, 09:54:16 PM any value?
slumdog millionare a lay at 1/8? any value about pitt to win best actor at 33/1? Title: Re: Oscars Post by: AndrewT on February 22, 2009, 10:48:00 PM slumdog millionare a lay at 1/8? No - Slumdog has already been named best picture by all the separate actors/directors/writers guilds - as these are the same people that vote in the Oscars they're not going to change their mind now. any value about pitt to win best actor at 33/1? No - I think Benjamin Button will be the big loser of the night - should get a couple of technical awards but no biggies. Title: Re: Oscars Post by: Hairydude on February 22, 2009, 11:01:50 PM Best actor will be either Sean Penn or Mickey Rourke- i'd like to see rourke win it
Title: Re: Oscars Post by: gatso on February 22, 2009, 11:39:06 PM has anyone seen the leaked list of winners that the academy have said is a fake?
Title: Re: Oscars Post by: Colchester Kev on February 22, 2009, 11:42:26 PM has anyone seen the leaked list of winners that the academy have said is a fake? only in a news report winslett best actress slumdog best film ledger supporting actor mickey rourke actor those are the ones i remember Title: Re: Oscars Post by: Royal Flush on February 22, 2009, 11:45:43 PM has anyone seen the leaked list of winners that the academy have said is a fake? Voting still going on so be a good coup if they already got list!! Slumdog is a bet imo, can't lose, nearly as good as the Clinton/NewYork Obama/Illonois coup Title: Re: Oscars Post by: Graham C on February 22, 2009, 11:50:51 PM Slumdog for best screenplay at 4/9 is a bit better value
Title: Re: Oscars Post by: gatso on February 22, 2009, 11:55:38 PM has anyone seen the leaked list of winners that the academy have said is a fake? Voting still going on so be a good coup if they already got list!! Slumdog is a bet imo, can't lose, nearly as good as the Clinton/NewYork Obama/Illonois coup the leak, if it had been genuine, would have come from the initial vote that they take the nominations from. quite a few people at price waterhouse would have access to that info and I'd imagine most people's first votes and their final votes would be the same so any genuine leak would be close to 100% accurate except in the closest run categories Title: Re: Oscars Post by: bolt pp on February 23, 2009, 12:00:06 AM has anyone seen the leaked list of winners that the academy have said is a fake? only in a news report winslett best actress slumdog best film ledger supporting actor mickey rourke actor those are the ones i remember and it took a leak to name all the huge jollies to win ::) Title: Re: Oscars Post by: gatso on February 23, 2009, 12:05:15 AM Slumdog for best screenplay at 4/9 is a bit better value yeah, good call. apart from a brief period in the late '80s the best picture winner (which we've got to assume will be slumdog) almost always takes whichever one of the two screenplay awards it's up for Title: Re: Oscars Post by: gatso on February 23, 2009, 12:07:45 AM wow, just wow. I was just looking through the list of past winners and I was somehow completely unaware that million dollar baby won best picture. how the fuck did this happen? it's one of the worst films I've ever seen, definitely in my top 10 of dross
Title: Re: Oscars Post by: Hairydude on February 23, 2009, 12:21:43 AM I loved million dollar baby- also not checked but pretty sure good will hunting won best screenplay but not best picture(as remember thinking it strange at the time-def in my top 5)
Title: Re: Oscars Post by: gatso on February 23, 2009, 12:28:58 AM I loved million dollar baby- also not checked but pretty sure good will hunting won best screenplay but not best picture(as remember thinking it strange at the time-def in my top 5) the good will hunting year was one of the exceptions as titanic was best picture that year but had essentially no story so gwh and la confidential took the 2 screenplay awards. titanic didn't even get a screenplay nomination this year should be different as slumdog has a proper story Title: Re: Oscars Post by: bolt pp on February 23, 2009, 12:29:45 AM theres an article about all the flops and surprises on msn, the my cousin Vinny bird getting an Oscar for that in 93 was the sickest one i read.

She's up again for the wrestler I actually liked that film too lol but its not your typical serious oscar role!!! I actually dont see why comedies are never mentioned at the Oscars as some of the best acting performances are from those roles Title: Re: Oscars Post by: Robert HM on February 23, 2009, 12:36:53 AM theres an article about all the flops and surprises on msn, the my cousin Vinny bird getting an Oscar for that in 93 was the sickest one i read. the gum chewing lass?
