I saw this the first time it came out, it is awesome, best line for me is.

'your mums fit, would you do her'

'no she's my mum'

'but if she wasnt your mum'

'she is'

gold...

Think I'm on the third time through these. Virtually my favourite thing on tele.  I'm hoping the second series is jet around the corner!

Apparently play.com are advertising a box set of series 1&2 for preorder. It's release is in may which would mean it must be on e4 in the next couple of weeks.

When I saw it advertised last year, I really realy didnt want to like it, one night, very bored, I watched the entire series on E4 - totally brilliant. The main kid with the glasses has a good career ahead of him and the little one who lies about getting laid all the time remindsme of about 20 guys I went to school with.

Loved the scene where he punched the fish to death.

Watched this on the 'on demand' thingy last night having seen this thread.

Quality!

Series 1 to be found and consumed soon

Title: Re: the inbetweeners
Post by: Rooky9 on April 04, 2009, 07:12:50 PM
It was always going to struggle to reach the standard of series 1. that had the advantage of being a fairly new and unique format. I liked the first one of series 2 still though. A definate box set to be purchased when there are a few series to go through.

Bump- Got series 1 & 2 for Christmas, I had never heard of it so  went in with an open mind. I thought it was hillarious!

As has been said on this thread Will reminds me alot of trigg, Jays Dad and the headmaster Phil (as he loves been called) are very good characters.

Bring on the next series quick!

Yeah I had this recommended by a few mates, so eventually started watching about month or so ago. Funniest thing I have seen in a while, Jay is the greatest character ever.

There's a 3rd series coming soon and also a movie :D

I think this is all they plan on doing though, which is as it should be.

Yeah I heard that, not sure really what I think about that. Only fools is a favourite of mine but anyone else playing Delboy apart from David Jason isn't going to seem right and I will also expecting delboy to say clunge every 5 seconds.

Cant remember the exact dialogue but its amazing.

Firstly when theyve just met the lanky guys fit sister and they are talking about her.
And then the bit about his sistes tightness or wills mum.

One of the best programmes of the decade along with the boosh and peep show.

exactly this apart from wanting to hate it.

yeah loads. it's pretty cool, I used to get to go to film sets all the time when I was a kid and also did it for a while as my first job after school (actually did it quite a bit while I was supposed to be at school as well)

it's given me a completely blasé aproach to celebrity as they've always just been people my mum knows, nothing special. she brought sting home to stay at our house once because he didn't want to go to a hotel

Don't think thats true Monda. They were all on the radio the other day plugging the new series and talking about how they were now making the film and how they were hoping it would be a British American Pie type of film.

I also follow Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison) on twitter coz i'm cool like that and they have both been talking about the film but are unsure as to when it will be out.

I thought the first episode was great, the first half of the ep was stolen by the comedy put downs and abuse from Jay and Mr Gilbert then towards the end the bollock thing was just genius. Who even thought of that and how, incred.

So me and my mate were dj'in at a 21st birthday party. The party was ok, but good enough to get me and mate on a few drinks after. So we finished up dj'in, headed into town, went to a few bars and ended up in this club. Guess who we bumped into? Charlotteeeeee from inbetweeners!! She looked pretty good, and is such a nice person! We must have chatted to her for like at least half an hour!

Asked her about the movie, and she said they're planning to do it in Malia... It hasn't been shot yet, but they went to check it out for research, apparently just an excuse for a lads holiday! But unfortunately, there's no plans for charlotte to be in the movie yet.

Oh and her name is Emily and she currently resides in Flitwick. She even told me the apartments, but I can't remember what they're called. Ok sorry for long post, I am a bit drunk, just needed to post this!

The last episode was amazing, it pretty much replicated my first experiences of  drugs when I was a kid. We also tried to smoke something that wasnt actually drugs and presumably basil, we had a bullshiter friend who claimed to be a big time dealer and then watched him go crazy when he finally smoked it for the first time and we also had a dissaproving tory boy friend who ended up proving a point that he wasnt scared and it wasnt clever by smoking more than any of us.

Every series part of me wants to hate the inbetweeners for some reason, but it is amazing.

First half was brilliant, i loved "and the first 18 people who found him in that situation were just oppourtunistic homosexuals?". Also the scene in the car on the way there was just fantastic, maybe the best scene in the shows history.

2nd half was dissapointing and the pissing incident was very silly.

Still, good overall, had 3 laughing fits and haven't had that since the last season of Always Sunny (this season hasnt be too good yet).

Like most great fresh British comedies, this is what kind of happens. They start getting dafter and dafter, the big laughs get bigger but overall the humour is fewer and further between. This episode had a couple of the best gags of all three series but it was also pretty poor in part, I'm glad they wont be doing anymore because it will probably end on a high.

Yeah, he is actually getting a bit too extreme and silly, his real appeal was that he was a 40 year old tory boy stuck in a teenagers body but its getting blurred now.

Jay is the best character now, plus I love the constant calling him on his lies this series

What the....?

I think its better than ever and am devastated its coming to an end.

This episode was incredible. Again the first half was a lot better than the 2nd half, but the squirrel scene was one of the best ever. I have a mate like that and it was just so so com.

Also enjoyed the bits in Will's house (before they were drunk), it was like us all being back at ChipRichs parents house 5 years ago drinking all their alcohol, hiding oranges and eggs round his house so in a few weeks they stink and putting Cigarette ends in his keyholes whilst Rich is running around moaning thinking "fml".

I thought it was pretty poor last night, some good bits and still better than most of the shit sitcoms churned out in the UK right now, but weak. Glad its coming to an end now because they are pulling out at the right time and it will be remembered as a great comedy.

Did lol at the Lincoln Uni joke as that's where my missus went

Mmm this just seemed like a non stop barrage of "wank" jokes and not actually much clever stuff like other episodes,  I didn't find the squirell been killed funny and im sure the dad would have had the dog put down ffs.

Thought it was an absolute stinker tonight. Couldn't have ended the show any worse. Film has a lot of work to do.

Plenty of good stuff last night although the projectile vomit scenes were unnecessary and poorly done. Loved the look on Simon's face when he read the text from Carly, and serious laughs at a lot of Neil's lines.
Not enough love for Greg Davies in this - his scenes have been some of the best in this series.

Ultimately though, I have to say Phoneshop>>>>Inbetweeners (Series 4)

Pissed myself when Neil put the chair on the fire.

in my opinion

it was shite

It was a weak end to the series, better than last week and although it didnt have the big laughs there was plenty of smile humour. It left things quite unresolved and didnt go out on a bang, which makes me think the movie is going to do that for us.

Although he is the best character, Jays lying is getting too silly and unfunny (even though we all had a mate like that at school and presumably in Greekys case it was him :) ) . Neil was the best character last night.

Dissapointed by 2nd half of the series but it has been 2 and a half series of pure class, so will always be remembered as one of the great British comedies for me.

On another note, anyone else like Phone Shop? I saw the pilot and thought it was shite but might give it a whirl if nowt else better is on.

Similar thoughts to Barry, though the last 2 eps were the weakest they have made but still worth watching. It will deffo go down as a classic series for me.

Looking forward to the film.

i thought the first 3 episodes were excellent and just as good as first 2 series'

then i thought in the last 3 episodes it got too stupid, and infact some of the jokes they used were actualy copied from preious episodes.

still think the film will be epic and a great way to send them off.

although i kinda got the impression that the camping trip was meant to be the big send off

Why in the UK can we only make comedies that last for ~18 episodes when in the US they can make excellent comedies than run for 100+ eps?

They have teams of 20+ writers in the US for every show, whom they often rotate and get lots of new staff in each season, all of which ensures that they are kept fresh and don't go stale. In the UK we stick to the genius of individuals, which often makes the shows better at first but fizzle out fast.

So far I think My Family is the only UK comedy to try the American format and I think its a bleedin awful show, however the fact of the matter is the US has been vastly superior to the UK for pretty much all fiction for quite a long time now, so maybe we should follow suit.

I kind of meant why don't we rather than how is it possible.

So many great US shows that run for ages, such a waste of good characters killing off the inbetweeners, at least the US took on the office and has furthered all those great charecters.

It surprises me too, most of our sitcoms are shite these days but I think the quality of our stand up/panel shows is quite high - lock a bunch of them in a room to make a sitcom I say.
