Title: March 1st-31st Heads Up STT proposal
Post by: MC on February 27, 2009, 12:25:19 AM
Okay, this staking venture is solely based on forcing me to keep good bankroll management and to prevent me from wasting my time on the limit cash tables as has been the case in the last couple of weeks!

Proposal:

I'm looking for a €1200 roll to play Heads-Up STTs on the Boss network.

5% action = €60
10% action = €120

Please understand that I will be buying half of the shares myself. Therefore 50% is available. Will say a max 10% investment unless only a couple of people end up being interested...

This proposal will run for the duration of March, after which the profits will be split thus:
49% to backers (I am counting myself as a backer), 49% to me, 2% to the Blonde Forum*

Profits will include 30% rake (http://blondepoker.com/redirect.php?id=1)back (http://blondepoker.com/redirect.php?id=1).

Original stake will be returned at the end of the month assuming all goes well. If I make a loss, you will recieve back the appropriate percentage.

*I hope it's okay that I'm gonna play these on Poker Heaven. I have a good VIP deal with them and also there's a few regs that I'd rather not play generally know to avoid me and my Celeb Poker username is completely different.

Bankroll rules:

I am only intending to play Heads-up STTs on this account throughout, no cash games

I may play the occasional MTT with the same buy-in guidelines as for heads ups, but I stress this will only be the random one to break up the monotony! Obv backers get the same cut..

At the beginning of each individual game, I must meet these requirements:

Buy-in:       Required Bankroll:
€10+0.50            Any
€15+0.75           €200
€20+1                €400
€25+1.25           €600
€30+1.5             €900
€40+2               €1200
€50+2.50          €1500
€75+3.50          €2250
€100+4.50        €3000

If I digress from these rules, which you should be able to monitor on Sharkscope, everyone will be entitled to full stakeback, plus whatever rake (http://blondepoker.com/redirect.php?id=1)back (http://blondepoker.com/redirect.php?id=1) they are owed.

Volume:

Not sure how much I'll manage to play, but it should be a fair amount. Have played Heads Ups on 30 days of this year, playing 1250 games.

Will post updates in the thread everyday, along the lines of what I do in my blog (http://www.atkinator.blogspot.com)

Experience:

Basically I've played a shitload of these, and have a decent winrate. Here are my sharkscopes.

http://www.sharkscope.com/index.html?username=Atkinator&network=boss&searchtype=SNGO
http://www.sharkscope.com/index.html?username=theMBK&network=boss&searchtype=SNGO
http://www.sharkscope.com/index.html?username=Atkinator-&network=boss&searchtype=SNGO

I realise the last one (which I will be playing on) looks dodgy, but that includes the 1200 turbo 10 man games I played back in September (see here (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=36906.0)), and just a sick run at the high stakes STTs for that big dip.

I'd suggest to you that this is an unrisky investment. I realise the roll is pretty small but I figure this was kind of a trial run, and if it goes well, I might look into doing more stuff like this in the future.

Feel free to ask any questions. Will PM those that are interested with shipping details upon full sale...

No man I think this is wrong, it's a much dirtier %

Effectively I will get ~75% profits as I am counting myself as a backer.

If people didn't realise this they can edit out their contribution and sorry if I didn't explain that great.

So if you made 1000 profit, you'd take 500 for doing it, then 250 for your cut? (ish, excluding blonde payout)

Yes dude...

I realise it sounds a little gay, but it's the same as if I offered the full 100% out and got half the winnings myself in effect. I just might as well play half a buyin lower if I was gonna do that so it wouldn't be worth it for me...

It's over the long term though so fine, Tank is less than this if i am correct.

As long as its long enough that variance plays little part then its fine.

As I understand it, he's still giving 50% of his profits away, he's just giving 50% of the 50% he's giving away to himself because he's bought 50% of himself himself.

Or something

Lol, in essence this is a good explanation

Hopefully 2% will be something respectable!

Just as a note, any winnings from freeroll tournaments won't be included in this...
(I'm referring to a couple of VIP freerolls not shitty little ones lol)

Hey James,

Nice start. Do the Hu games take a while to fill on PH? It's just i imagine that by the time you've scoped some1, even if it only takes 20 seconds the game might fill. Must get annoying when that happens if they're a suitable opponent.

LOL yeah this is very frustrating, and a definite downside of this method. But it hasn't happened too much, I'm pretty quick off the mark, and I'm keeping a "play or don't play" list for quick reference and to learn who the fish who keep coming back are

Tbh I've never done this before, I've always sat in games, but you always end up playing a fair proportion of games against regulars.

My win-rate w/out this method has been around the 55% mark so far this year. I've hit 67% in this v.small 31 game sample, but it's enough to make me want to experiment more with it!

Was flying today, got the roll up to almost €1700 early doors, but then lost 6 matches in a row after getting repeatedly gayed. Rallied back though for a reasonable profit for the day. Still employing the same method as yesterday, and I'm happy with how it's working out so far...

Didn't get to play much today, but ran ridiculously good. A lot of showdowns went my way. Although I don't remember sucking out more than a couple of times, I ran especially good in 60:40s, which is important when you're playing donkeys cos although you often get your money in good, it's not always that good...

Variance has to kick in sometime soon. I'm on a 24.5% ROI so far which is just sick. 8.5% is what I'm on for the year so far. Perhaps this "pick and choose" method has a little something to do with it, but obviously still way above expectation. Here's hoping that continues!!

I'm afraid variance has finally kicked in which led me to an effectively break even day. Ran gross in the €50s but then again won all the €40s I played. Just got unlucky in the odd spot here and there else things might have gone well.

I did break the bankroll rules today. I just felt I had to play these uber-fish that were sat on the €75 tables. I hope you'll trust my judgment on this one. I won't make a habit of this. If I say I can only lose a maximum 2 buy-ins on these games while my bankroll is around this mark, I hope that's okay. Feel free to keep an eye on my Sharkscope (http://www.sharkscope.com/index.html?username=Atkinator-&network=boss&searchtype=SNGO) to ensure I don't get out of line.

Sorry have been busy today and have thus been unable to play.

With DTD 300 tommorow night and hopefully Sunday too, plus a voyage to London on Monday evening things might be a bit slow over the next few days. Will make up for it next week as best I can. If I miss too much action I could always extend this by a few days, but I'll see how things go after this short 'down-time' phase...

Actually did end up managing to play a fair amount today after a couple of games on Saturday. Has been a frustrating day really, ran bad on show-downs when I was a big favourite (overpairs/dominated aces and such), but I hadn't had too much of this up til now so it's to be expected. Guess the great start has caught up with me and I've now plummeted to a more realistic 10% ROI.

There's a €100+9 freezeout that looks set to have decent overlay at 8pm, I'm going to play it with €50+4.50 exposure to the roll, and therefore 50% of any winnings counting towards the bankroll...

On a side note I've been out all day until now, so won't be much heads up stats for the day...

Wow! I remember saying to you on Monday night I was thinking about playing some Mtts on Boss. I realise this is part of a festival so that overlay isn't the norm, but still it's another reason!

Title: March 11th

So sick, would be €100 better off, if not for a guy who sat out until he had only 600 chips to my 3400 beating me after being a 10% dog on 3 occasions. Am ending the session abruptly cos that has tilted me hard!

Yeah Dino only overlay on Boss on special events, but this festival looks to be good value...

Starting Bankroll: €2103.00

Today's Results:

€40+2

€50+2.50
P: 5, W: 3, L: 2

€75+3.50
P: 2, W: 1, L: 1

MTTs
-€54.50 ... Lost a flip after about 1/2 the field had been eliminated
-€33 (+€30 add-on) ... got JJ v 99 all in pre to be chipleader but not to be, then ran JJ into KK on 8 high board

Current Bankroll: €2054.00

-€30+3 - Ran AJ into QQ on a J high board
-€10+1 (+ €10 rebuy) - Ran bottom 2 pair into top 2 pair on the flop early on
-€10+1 (+ €10 add-on) - Sucessfully satellited into the evening €70+7 event which had about €12k overlay for €25k guaranteed. Sadly I didn't cash though.

Yo dudes,

I'm thinking I might end this early. I can't bring myself to play a Heads Up at the moment, I'm not sure why considering how good I've been running, it's just you can get burnt out on these things.

I'm worried that I didn't really advertise this as an MTT bankroll, but that's all I've been playing the last week and a bit really.

Would anyone object if I paid out on this now?

Haven't definitely decided on this yet, but it's how I'm currently feeling...

Also, I'd be interested to know if people would be interested in me doing an MTT proposal in the future?

obv would prefer you to carry on but not if your heads not 100% in it

as you're not 100% decided how about you hold onto the roll for the next 2 weeks, that's what we all expected anyway, if you get back in a hu mood then put in a couple of days, if not then don't and ship at the end of the month. I'll def be happy with that, not sure about the others

That seems like a reasonable compromise, and it's cool with me as long as it's cool with everyone else.

If only I could find a decent interest rate somewhere ;)

Are ppl okay with me continuing to play a few low level MTTs a day with the roll as I have been doing?

(lol cheers gatso)

Title: March 30th
Post by: MC on March 31, 2009, 10:46:14 PM
Played a wodge of games to make up for being so lazy recently. However, I couldn't seem to win a game at the lower stakes games, and I ran really gross on the €100s. I found this one monkey at that level who would call with whatever hand he had if you shoved. Needless to say he sucked out on me in 3 consecutive games and didn't return to help even out my variance!

Starting Bankroll: €2918.37 (+ €1200 cashed out)

Today's Results:

€20+1
P: 4, W: 1, L: 3

€30+1.50
P: 9, W: 2, L: 7

€40+2
P: 8, W: 3, L: 5

€50+2.50
P: 8, W: 6, L: 2

€75+3.50
P: 16, W: 7, L: 9

€100+4.50
P: 17, W: 8, L: 9

€150+5
P: 6, W: 4, L: 2

Current Bankroll: €2657.37 (+€1200 cashed out)

So much for a last little burst, but I've done much better today (31st) and there is a fair amount of rakeback from the higher volume of games I've been putting in...

At least I had a good day to end it all. Apologies for my stagnant period, that wasn't really part of the proposal. Still, I hope you guys are happy with the ROI. I will work out what ppl are owed now...
