Title: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: thetank on March 09, 2009, 03:10:49 PM A tale of muppetry
Booking some Cheltenham bets with William Hill. I made up the slip, then clicked to deposit and made the bets at the same time. Typed in my CVV number and Bank of Scotland secure password. It said there was a problem with the bet slip or something (wait for it, this is the muppetry) didn't really read it, just changed the bet slip around a bit and booked it again, same thing with the CVV number and bank password. Long story shorter, I've booked the bloody bets twice. Instead of booking 56 units of bets, I've now booked 105 units of bets. If I phone them, as the events obv haven't run yet, do you think they'll let me unbook one of them and refund the monies to my account? [ ] A unit is a pound. [ ] I have enough money to lay the duplicate bet. "It's quite a large amount that you want voided here" I feel so balla. :D Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: thetank on March 09, 2009, 03:51:29 PM [ ] It was a large amount though, really.
I guess most people just bet fivers and tenners and stuff. I never understand people putting £5 on a horse to win £25 and shit. wtf is the point. I never understand people putting £5 on a horse to win £25 and shit. wtf is the point. Its all relative to the disposable income people have .... The point is that some people get as much of a buzz about picking up £25 for a fiver as others do picking up £500 for £100. Dont start being a betting snob Thomas ... or we will have to send you back to MaccyD's to learn the true value of A pound ;) Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: cia260895 on March 09, 2009, 03:58:49 PM [ ] It was a large amount though, really. The true value of a pound is not normally a cheeseburger, a milkshake or 4 chicken nuggets with a penny change. McDonalds has its own sustainable economy. We dont want to confuse him Kev. Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: maccol on March 09, 2009, 05:45:23 PM A tale of muppetry I did something similar when backing one of Boldies tips.Didnt realise Id done it till I checked my account after the race.Booking some Cheltenham bets with William (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960) Hill (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960). I never understand people putting £5 on a horse to win £25 and shit. wtf is the point. I can understand them wanting to win the £25, it's the shit that puzzles me. Dont start being a betting snob Thomas ... or we will have to send you back to MaccyD's to learn the true value of A pound ;) But that's my point, it's not an amounts thing, (I'm a long way from being balla, I'm a low-mid stakes STT grinder, and part time at that.) What I think a pound is worth is probably no different to the next man, in many ways I have to work harder for my bucks than a lot of people (although admittedly, not on my commute to work.) It's the outcome of a bet winning or losing not really affecting your life in any way that I was getting at, just doing it for the love of gambling and the thrill that I don't understand. In fact, I try not to bet like that, just punting for the sake of punting. The bet I've placed is large (relatively) to try and achieve an end if I win. I probably won't even watch the race. :D I fully admit that I'm a bit odd. It's Cheltenham! [ ] I now have enough moneys for all my bills in two weeks suggests that the more you're betting, the more you're giving away. Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: dousche on March 13, 2009, 12:57:27 AM sorry if that seems like a lecture, but i dont get people and gambling
Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: thetank on March 13, 2009, 01:17:08 AM lol rubdownaments
my zebras were too slow i dont understand how you perceive the size of your bet to be any different from the size of your tourny buyin. Poker tournaments are work, I use a bankroll. Punting on horses is gambling (for me anyway) I use my real life money. What's not to get? I can take a big punt with my spare real life money because it doesn't affect my ability to grind out an income if I lose it. Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on March 13, 2009, 01:59:58 AM I understand where you are coming from Tank!
Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: ScottMGee on March 13, 2009, 01:47:50 PM Its all relative.
I have played $200 SNGs in the past (currently slumming it at $30 games) but I will happily have the occasional £2 bet on betfair, and then be even happier if I can lay it off later for a small profit / free bet on the race / game. Title: Re: Accidentally made a bet twice Post by: thetank on March 13, 2009, 09:33:54 PM I understand where you are coming from Tank! wiiiiiii Beer for you at next bash.
