Title: O/T What is your Child's MUST HAVE toy this year?
Post by: yt on November 28, 2005, 02:35:24 PM
Anyone with kids knows what this post is about.

My 7 year old daughter MUST HAVE the following -
Winx Club Dolls - the two she wants were the "rare ones" or at least they were rare when we were looking. We found them in Enfield.
Pixel Chix (3 to collect £29.99 each! to be fair she has only asked for one.) Sold out online except EBAY. Luckily I got one in Toysrus while they were in stock last week and they are now out of stock again! Advertising this on the tv like crazy.
Dominos - the action alley ones. Not rare at all! good girl.
Doggie day care.
Polly Pocket fairground
Many other requests smaller things really.
Total = £200ish but maybe a bit more

My 1 1/2 year old daughter is just happy to rip xmas paper! Aren't they great at that age. We got her a play kitchen, dougal toy (magic roundabout) and some other bits. Easy.
Total =£150ish

Can't imagine not getting what the 7 year old wants. Christmas would be a nightmare.

So - What is your Child's MUST HAVE toy this year?
And - Am I spending too much?

It's not for me to say whether you are spending too much. Though in general I think way too much is spent compared to what is necessary

However I did have a slight  :blonde: when I asked my six year old daughter what she wanted Santa to bring her this Xmas and to write it down and we'll post it to Lapland

The answer, in red felt tip, was as follows, word for word

Dear Santa

Daddy says I hav to rite to you to tel you wat I want four Critsmas

I want A PONY (with picture of something resembling a Pony)

i hav ben a good gurl and I promis to help mum tidy up and be a good gurl again

Love

Kristie Prew

age 6

I have spent the last few weeks severely downgrading expectations

The boys are easy......Football playstation games etc

but I always get them something worthwhile...this year all mine are sponsoring an endangered animal through WWF

Both of mine want pushbikes, managed to get them both one for £59.99 +VAT from Makro.  Youngest wants a GameCube too, his dad's getting him this, but I didn't find this out until I had bought him the game he wanted for his PS2!!!  The eldest is getting money off his dad.

I'm more interested in what Santa is bringing me for Xmas - that should be very interesting....

Anyone wishing to make a donation, please PM me for my postal address - anything sparkly gratefully accepted.

We spend roughly £100-150 on each of the kids
And the 4 eldest have been anything but helpful
Kalem= camera and leather jacket smellys and socks in the stocking
Sam =( bearing in mind she's 18 ) barbi doll !!! ring , watch and i dread to think what else . smellys and underwear in the stocking.
William= bits and bobs for the mini moto stupied thing we got him for his birthday  , same as kalem with the stocking
Ben= Aftershave , clothes  , jewelry same as kalem with stocking fillers
Harry =Wants everything in the Argos book ..lol ,
Katies would be happy with paper and boxes as she's only 16 months , but we got her 1st dolly and pram awwwww
Paul=Wants to win a major poker event , sure Santa will do his best ... lol
Me ? As long as all the above are happy them i'm happy.

Well as such monkeys dont celebrate any religious holidays but if i have a decent win on the green felt in cyberland i will probably treat myself to something nice. If i do then my little 'uns of 18 months and 9 months will get the box whatever my treat comes in, that should keep them quiet for months to come. They enjoy nothing more of one hiding in the box and jumping out when the other one walks past.

If that doesnt keep them quiet then i might have to shell out on some catnip treats.............

This will be the first year I buy my son anything. He is 6.

I have gotten away with it lightly as grandparent and aunts and uncles etc. have always spoilt him. I used to wait a day or two and ask him his favourite toy, then say that's what i had gotten him. Semi cruel I know, but a damn sight easier.

This year I think a Gameboy Advance will be purchased so he can sit quietly in the corner with it. NOT!!!!!

ALso whenever he hears an Ice Cream Van playing it's little jingle, he turns to me smiles and says the Ice Cream van has run out of ice cream hasn't it. To which I reply yes son that's right. Maybe next time he won't have. Ah the lies we tell.

Yogi

With her being only 6 years old, I suppose she's a bit young to understand just how funny it would be for you to give her a card with £25 in it on Christmas morning...

My 2 year old is happy with a my little pony (£3.98 from Asda with hair brush).

Thats all she wanted so we bought her it now. (And sneaked the My Litle Pony fairground set + additional pony into the trolley while she wasnt looking, and the pretty pony set too, asda cheap imotation version) And she wants a bike. About 60-70 quid in total.

The wifes bought her a few educational toys too. Things we want her to have (but will still be fun).

to my car picking up the car keys on route and proceeds to unlock the car open

his dad left him in the front seat of car when unloaded the shopping one day
only for the terraway to take spare keys out of glove box put them in ignitaion
and get fright of his life when the car actually started

i am certainly not going to ask him what he wants in 15 years times

Quite right. You simply wrap up your current car, in its (then) current state 15 years hence, and say. Its 15 years too late son, but I always keep a promise, and present him with the keys to his (rather old) brand new car.

Last year the older 3 had laptops so they knew it would not be anything as expensive this year.

number 1  - psp and games
number 2 - ipod nano and games
number3 - psp and games
number 4 - power rangers anything
number 5 - anything barbie, dress up stuff and girlie things

it still adds up :( :(
