Title: 77 in BB - 17BBs Post by: daviebhoy on March 16, 2009, 03:18:32 PM A friend and myself have been discussing a hand he played at the weekend. I think he played the hand fine but he isn't so sure. I can see cases for pushing, folding and calling here as stacks are awkward. I wondered what the concensus on here would be.
Its a 1 table SNG on pokerstars. Hero has 1700. Blinds are 50/100. 8 players left. All folds round to the button (2300) who min raises. Hero has 77 ?........ Title: Re: 77 in BB - 17BBs Post by: daviebhoy on March 16, 2009, 05:50:55 PM He did shove. I think its the right play aswell but suggested seeing what the concensus was on here as he wasn't sure after villain called with AQ and flop came 9JQAA......

Title: Re: 77 in BB - 17BBs Post by: action man on March 16, 2009, 06:07:12 PM its not discussion. They both think the shove is correct. It is correct... waste of paper imo
Title: Re: 77 in BB - 17BBs Post by: TightEnd on March 16, 2009, 06:08:00 PM as others have said calling isn't really an option
don't know about other stack sizes but probably 1700 is at the low end I would think Against a late raiser I think shove rather than fold in a turbo Title: Re: 77 in BB - 17BBs Post by: AlexMartin on March 16, 2009, 06:42:20 PM A friend and myself have been discussing a hand he played at the weekend. Title: Re: 77 in BB - 17BBs Post by: TheChipPrince on March 16, 2009, 06:47:48 PM Is calling that terrible? We still have 15 BB's behind and it only wins us 3 1/2 BB's when he folds, If he calls we're never better than 55/45...
Discuss. Title: Re: 77 in BB - 17BBs Post by: TightEnd on March 16, 2009, 06:48:56 PM Is calling that terrible? Thats about bang-on i suppose, crai with one over would be a general line i think for me, check fold to a paint-tastic board. I think everyone agrees the shove is best, there is no debate there, but I'm adamant the call is not horrible. I think this is an excellent resource for learning and discussing hands and I appreciate the comments. I know this does seem like a trivial situation. I thought the same to begin with and think I shove here 100% of the time. But, I think now we might be able to do better against some opponents by calling and even sometimes folding here depending on opponent.
