Title: laptop keyboard problem Post by: Claw75 on March 20, 2009, 11:26:10 PM OK - so last year I spilt some water on my laptop and since then half the keys don't work. I've been getting by with a usb keyboard, but am getting fed up with it tbh. The laptop was only cheap (£350) but has served me well and apart from the keyboard issue I've had no problems with it at all. Does anyone have any idea how much it will cost to get fixed, or would I just be better off buying a new lappy and keeping this one (with plug in keyboard) as a spare?

Title: Re: laptop keyboard problem Post by: LLevan on March 21, 2009, 11:10:08 AM Tip for buying a KB on Ebay.........make sure its a UK spec KB or else you will have different symbols on different keys. As regards fitting it, if you turn the laptop over the screws that release the keyboard might be marked on the bottom, failing that a google search might well come up trumps. Once you get the keyboard up it should just be a simple ribbon connector to release it and in reverse to fit the replacement.

After mopping up and taking apart to dry out, the keys still stuck badly. I was quite upset as I didn't want to replace it as it is a really nice wireless keyboard. Out of desperation and trying everything I could think of, I sprayed some WD-40 on the sticky keys and would you believe it. it works fine now.
