Is the max res of your monitor 1600 x 1050?

A lot of 21" and 22" monitors are. If this is the case, you won't fit the four 800x600 windows in without overlap unfortunately.
To adjust your resolution if using XP, go to control panel, then adjust screen resolution should appear in the appearance and personalisation secion. Sliding the bar all the way to the right will show you what your max resolution is.

Only other thing I can suggest, other than buying a bigger monitor, is to switch to mini-view and lower your monitors resolution by sliding the bar to your left (so the mini-view gets bigger)
Can't remember what setting is best, but you'll get 4 mini-views taking up almost the whole screen this way.

1680 x 1050 is max, yeah i remembered you saying that last time but as you said not great at all.Wouldnt it be better to 2 games on 22" and 2 on laptop screen how do i make it so stuff showing independantly on both screens.I thought it was the laptop that determined the max resolution not the monitor am i wrong ?

doesn't sound right.

15.9" laptop is unlikely to have as much as 1600 X 1050 resolution, so it's likely it's already taken the max resolution of the monitor into account and that's what it's offering you.

For stuff showing independantly on both screens when using a lappie, not too sure. Someone who knows what they're talking about will have to help you. :)

A monitor will have a maximum resolution, as will your laptop screen.

To extend your desktop (I guess that's what you mean) you need to right click on your desktop select properties/personalise.  Then select display settings.

You'll see two monitors on that screen.  You need to select the 2nd one and click the check box to "extend the desktop on this monitor".

Before you spend another 150 quid, 1920 x 1080 won't get the job done either.

You might be best off with an old CRT screen, as many of them will support 1600x1200 (and better), although you might need a bigger desk and maybe an extension to fit the buggers in the room.  I think you're talking substantial money (maybe £250+) for an LCD that does 1600x1200 or better.

There was a thread on here about a really nice set-up with one 24" monitor, flanked by two 21" in portrait mode (so they are the same height as the 24").  Now that would be balla.

I'm toying with the idea of 9 x 19" monitors and having a different table taking up the whole of each monitor.

With wee lightbulbs round the rim of each monitor that light up when it's your turn to act on that table.

Ideally we want 9 monitors attached against the wall, no desk whatsoever, just me facing them in a sik fucking chair with a gamepad.

Trying to cost it for under £2.5k. Do you reckon I've got a chance? Can always add the sik fucking chair later I suppose.

Samsung here (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/24-Samsung-SM2433BW-Black-Widescreen-LCD-1920x1200-10001-300-cd-m-5-ms-VESA) for £204 does 1920x1200. Cheapest I could find.

If you seriously want 9 monitors, you'll need some seriously balla graphics cards. Most you can get out of a single card is 4 (AFAIK).

I play poker on a 50" plasma myself (although it's only 1920x1080), sat in a sik Stressless (http://www.ekornes.co.uk/uk/stressless/stressless_recliners/) chair. Very comfy.

Good find with the Samsung.  That is the resolution of my laptop and is great for poker.  Will have to invest in a second monitor with that resolution as well sometime soon.

Samsungs are great, I have the 24" HD something or other with the snazzy dark red surround.  It's a lovely screen :)

Let's see, 9 of them that's £1,800
A system with the graphics card and everything to run it, about £2k

Mounting them against the wall will probably be another few £100. Oh, and a table top fridge imo, why not.

If my horse binks the GUKPT this weekend, that's looking good. :)

I've done this and am now using my LCD TV as a 2nd monitor but how do i get things to appear on it? I've just got my desktop showing (with no icons) but i can still use my laptop albeit with a dodgy resolution

I was messing about with a system from this company the other week. May be a bit more than 2.5K but f**k me it was awesome.

We had it connected to via 8 DVI ports feeding onto to 2 x 50" Panasonic plasma screens.
