Title: Clough Post by: Robert HM on March 26, 2009, 12:06:36 AM Just watched this on ITV. Christ what memories came flooding back.
I lived in Nottingham between ages 4 to 21 and during that time Forest had their purple patch. I was football mad at the time, though a Magpie supporter, I used to spend alternative Saturdays at the City Ground, if I could afford it, as I loved football. OK, I had to keep my true affiliation quiet but I wanted Forest to do well for the City. Seeing the old footage was incredible, watching and listening to players I admired and in some cases had met, even fleetingly. Memories of Viv Anderson and Pedro Richards, both wearing No 2 for the respective clubs drinking at the Trent Navigation, Pedro got me suspended from the pub as we were drinking half pints of Vodka and Orange one time when I was supposed to be running the place; serving John Robertson after he scored a penalty to keep the League Cup in the City. Also seeing the man thought of as the playing Messiah at the time, Trevor Francis, though he was only "part of the team". Even brought back memories of playing with Shane O'Neill, Martin's brother in the school playground, dirty sod though. Gathering in the market square as well to see the European Cup paraded, again. Lots of other clips just rung so many bells. All in all a program worth watching, though not sure I am looking forward to Damn United. Title: Re: Clough Post by: Matt.NFFC. on March 26, 2009, 12:25:18 PM A fantastic piece of viewing. Of course I'd say that being a Forest fan, would be interesting what non Forest fans thought of it.
Best bit for me was the footage on the training pitch where Cloughie says "That's what I pay you for...Get in there." Title: Re: Clough Post by: DaveShoelace on March 26, 2009, 01:04:34 PM "Get your hands out of your pocket" when he presented Trevor Francis with an award made me smile.

"John Robertson was a very unattractive young man, if one day, I felt a bit off colour, I would sit next to him. I was bloody Errol Flynn compared, but give him a ball and a yard of grass, and he was an artist, the Picasso of our game." - Brian Clough Genius |
