Title: Speech play
Post by: Dingdell on March 31, 2009, 12:37:36 PM
Luton last night - approx 15 players left av stack 20k, me about 20k, Simon Galloway about 10k.

I open for 2600 at 400/800 gall pushes All in.

I dwell up, Gall says "seeing as its you I will answer one question honestly as long as it doesn't kill my hand."

I dwell up some more and say "are you playing the player or your cards."

"Nice question" comes the reply, "I am playing the strength of my hand."

What question would you have asked.  What would your calling range be here without the speech?  How would that range differ (if at all) now you have the answer to the question?

You're getting 2-1 on the call - assuming you're raising semi-properly you should just snap.

Then when you bink out on him you ask him 'How do you like dem apples?'

"How can a major poker talent such as The Siciliian have played 15 events this year and not cashed in any of them?"

imo

Depends on your hand.

Say you have 88 your question should be do you have 99 or better?

depends on how tight he is playing
if u have enough to raise maybe u should be calling his shove imo
its only 7.6k to call
i would call him pretty loose here tho
he might just seem abit desprate with not many orbits left

I would ask him if he thinks colonic irrigation makes good radio...

In all honesty, I like your question.  You could also ask "If I have 99 or better (following on from Cos's idea) - do you want me to call?"

I'd ask what superpower he'd like if he could choose just one for 24 hours

I think Kin is waaay to interested in colonics to be an impartial observer....and as for gatso - good question - will use that next time for deffo. fml.

Gall says "seeing as its you I will answer one question honestly as long as it doesn't kill my hand."

just think of all the intimate/potentially embarrassing questions you could have asked Trace, and you waste it on something to do with poker. Shame on you!

That's a fair summary of 2008.

Depends on your hand.

Say you have 88 your question should be do you have 99 or better?

that's in danger of killing my hand, or earning me a penalty at least, so n/a

depends on how tight he is playing

FINALLY!  Someone in a Luton related question decides to take that into account.  Well done.

I'd ask what superpower he'd like if he could choose just one for 24 hours
I'd like the ability to get a raise through at Luton.  Much more exhilarating than being invisible/able to fly imo.

just think of all the intimate/potentially embarrassing questions you could have asked Trace
Next time fire away.

Ask him how he rates you as a player on a scale of 1-10. If it's anything less than 10 call very quickly. If it's 10 dwell a bit before calling to show a little respect. After binking ask him the same question again.

Too late, I'm already in the car nowadays somewhere between the flop and turn.

Any two cards, if it's good enough to make it 2600, it's good enough to call the 7400. Galloway runs bad at luton, in fact he runs worse than anyone at the moment. not to be confused with the sicilian who just plays bad at luton.

Anyways, ATC ftw!!!
