Title: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: thetank on April 06, 2009, 11:09:32 AM Got done for some tickets for a concert last year by buying off some dodgy site.
Now I'm a bit 'noid about this sorta stuff. Do you reckon it'll be ok to buy offa this place. http://www.delfontmackintosh.co.uk/ Seems legit to me, but then again I'm dense. Whatcha reckon? Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: AndrewT on April 06, 2009, 11:12:21 AM It seems to be the official site for Cameron Mackintosh's company, and I think he's good for a few quid so you should be ok.

If get grimmed, will spend tomorrow night throwing eggs at your house instead. Either way, looking forward to it. Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: AndrewT on April 06, 2009, 11:22:00 AM What are you going to see?
Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: thetank on April 06, 2009, 11:26:13 AM Les Miserables
Wetting myself, been gagging to see it for ages. I read the book earlier this year and listen to the soundtrack ~once a week. ;D Victor Hugo kicks a fair amount of bottom for a French bloke. His philosophical and historical tangents are a bit tedious at times, but I'm glad I got through it coz it's a cracking story. Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: G1BTW on April 06, 2009, 11:56:55 AM So if I buy 2 x stall tickets @ 55 quid each for Les Mis = total 110 quid and I pay by credit card am I covered under Section 75 Credit card protection since it is one purchase, or does each 'item' have to be over 100 quid?

Almost as good as Chicago! :) Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: Claw75 on April 06, 2009, 01:46:50 PM Les Miserables Wetting myself, been gagging to see it for ages. Post by: david3103 on April 06, 2009, 02:02:49 PM I was dragged to see Les Mis about 10 years ago by Wife and daughters and have seen it four times now.
Awesome - the power of music never ceases to amaze. Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: ItsMrAlex2u on April 11, 2009, 07:42:25 AM There arent enough words to describe how good the Les Mis show is, simply outstanding.
The ending is real "goose bump/hair standing up on the back of your neck" stuff. (Just had to listen to it again) "I dreamed a dream" by Fantine is another staggeringly brilliant bit. When are you going? Trip report please. Want to go and see it again now !! Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: thetank on April 11, 2009, 11:43:48 AM When are you going? Trip report please. Went on Tuesday 7th The show was ok. Javert and Enjorlas were excellent, really powerful voices booming out the songs which is what you want. Javert was a really good actor too, he understood the role and portrayed the character in a convincing manner. Thinking about it, the best performance was from Eponine. She's the only one who I thought, I'll look up that name and remember it. (Nancy Sullivan) Marius and Cosette did the job, but didn't bring the house down. Gavroche got on my nerves. Little stage school brat with little stage school toff accent playing a French street urchin didn't wash with me. Shouldn't be too harsh coz he's like 12 or something, but still. Fantine sounded flat as anything. Kinda glad when she died tbh. Jean Valjean was only ok. He was perhaps a bit wet tbh, didn't have the physical presence that is required of the character imo. (His enormous strength is what tips off his identity to Javert) This Jean Valjean looked like Javert could easily overpower him rather than the other way around. The fantine death scene where they have to stage fight a bit, it looked distinctly amateurish and underprepared. Jean Valjean and Fantine were both understudys so the above is kinda understandable. A good show overall, not worthy of an ovation but was worth the time and money. I'd go again, but get seats in the dress circle. Our vision of the top of the stage was kinda obstructed a bit from where we were in the stalls. I'll put my hands in my pockets and pay for £50 tickets rather than £40 tickets next time. Post by: Indestructable on April 11, 2009, 12:26:30 PM Seen Les Miserables 10+ times in part due to the Mrs loving the show and she has been 20+ times. Shame Gavroche wasn't good as when he is shot can sometimes bring a tear to the eye. :'(
Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: thetank on April 11, 2009, 12:32:01 PM The death of Eponine had my cold cold heart feeling a little, but that's about it. I think maybe because I've listened to the soundtrack albums so much, I was desensitized to the more emotional scenes.
Having said that, I've watched Forrest Gump about 15 times and that always gets me. When he's talking to dead Jenny under the tree. :'( Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Shame you were a bit disappointed and didnt have the best cast. I saw it about 2 years ago and it was worth every second of the standing ovation. Bad beat on your part IMO Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: thetank on April 11, 2009, 04:37:37 PM Not at all. I'm a bit odd and think nit picking it afterwards can be half the fun.
I definately enjoyed myself, the whole trip was pretty amazing. Title: Re: Paranoid I'll get grimmed, is this site ok? Post by: booder on April 11, 2009, 04:39:51 PM |
