Title: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Karabiner on May 24, 2005, 10:56:42 PM I know it's a bit controversial, but personally I think it is disgusting.
Encouraging "rabbit-hunters" to finish the flop. What are they trying to promote here ? Tikay, anyone ? ;) Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Ironside on May 24, 2005, 10:58:58 PM WPT started this crap off personally i hate it at casino but think for the non poker players watching it adds a little sumet
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: tikay on May 24, 2005, 11:08:38 PM I'm with Karabiner here. They will all wanna do it in the Casinos now.
And the bizarre thing is, HOW DOES IT HELP TO KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN??? Talk about dumbing down.......I mean, if they were Americans, with their limited intelligence, you could understand it. Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Karabiner on May 24, 2005, 11:11:01 PM Blimey I'm speechless !!!
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Ironside on May 24, 2005, 11:19:55 PM wow we should be so lucky 8)

Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: ifm on May 24, 2005, 11:30:38 PM Don't all casinos do this when asked??
Ian Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Yogi-Bear on May 24, 2005, 11:38:12 PM I can say that unless you pay to see the remaining cards. Ie: CALL, then no you won't see the remaining cards. Plus the all triumphing TDA rules, state No Rabbit hunting will be permitted.
Or at least it's the case in Blackpool. Yogi Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Ironside on May 24, 2005, 11:40:46 PM we are talk proper casinos not these mickey mouse ones in the usa and blackpool
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: ifm on May 24, 2005, 11:42:38 PM I've witnessed it hundreds of times and never known it refused, is this one of the rule changes that haven't filtered down or just a local thingy?
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: tikay on May 24, 2005, 11:48:49 PM It's never been a "rule" as such, just not a "done" thng.
The point is, what benefit accrues to anyone to know what might have been? It wastes time, causes arguments, & is quite simply out of order. It is wasting the time of 10 folks (assuming a dealer....) on that table I don't think we need to go overboard about it, but I'd hang the idiots who try & do it. By their goolies. Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Yogi-Bear on May 24, 2005, 11:49:48 PM I wouldn't have a clue. I'm presuming all the Grosvenors operate with this rule.
Y should they b allowed to see the cards???????????? Might as well disclose everyones hands whilst we r at it?????? If it was so important to see them i'm sure they would show em. Yogi Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: ifm on May 24, 2005, 11:58:55 PM Woah there, i have no real opinion of it personally.
I see no reason for or against really. Wasting time? a second or 2 Arguments? more like frustration for the asker. But i ain't debating it just curious as to yet another inconsitancy. Yogi, the way you said it was like it was a rule, as for everyones cards there's no point, folks wanna see the river or remaining cards to see if they made the right decision as i said it really only frustrates/relieves the asker. Much the same thing as when you fold 7 2 off only to see 772 on the flop! Ian Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Karabiner on May 25, 2005, 12:07:48 AM I always tell them that the cowboys used to say that "there's no point looking up a dead horse's arse"
And they all look "gone out" at me ! ??? Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: tikay on May 25, 2005, 12:10:27 AM No point looking up a dead horses arse? I guess that's by the same author as "if you see a weasel sleeping, piss in it's ear".
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: RED-DOG on May 25, 2005, 01:06:41 AM and "Dont kick your granny while she's shaving"
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: BlueWolf on May 25, 2005, 03:46:53 AM Actually not all grosvenors go with the no rabbiot hunting rule. At My former club it was ok to deal the remaining flop if the player who had won the hand was ok with it.
But i agree it just wastes time and gets peopel agitated. Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: The Truth on May 25, 2005, 06:09:38 AM Got so pissed of with that kind of behaviour at Stanley's in Newcastle stopped going.
Once hand is finnished it's finnished - Next Please!!!!!!!!! Aint paid to see cards - Don't see them SIMPLE. Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: CoolBlonde on May 25, 2005, 07:47:39 AM I agree with "haven't paid" don't see!
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Junior Senior on May 25, 2005, 04:49:22 PM The river-cam is Shite! - i hate it and they even do it when the person would have benefited didn't even think for a second about calling anyway and they do it on hands when the pot is quite small and its not really a key hand in the game - all in all an unnecessarry introduction to the game
and as for rabbit hunitng.. it should be punnishable by a 15 minute sit out ban and 5% of your stack being removed and given to the winner of the next pot (maybe the second punnishment is going a bit far - but rabbit hunting shouldn't happen!) Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: snoopy1239 on May 25, 2005, 09:16:29 PM It's kinda unfair too cos it reveals cards that a player can't have held.
I'd have to echo previous words. Pay to see. Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: BigDragon on May 25, 2005, 09:51:47 PM This is pure time wasting during a tourney. If it happens alot then the shortstacks are losing out. OK it may only take a min or so but its just time wasting!
On telly it's drama for the none poker playing watchers with a bit of knowledge. TV = Viewers = Anything to heighten the excitment so I've no problem with it on TV. Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: AdamM on May 25, 2005, 11:18:08 PM sack the river cam.
Irritating and it's propergating the bad habit. Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Karabiner on May 25, 2005, 11:21:27 PM Exactly my thoughts .
Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: ifm on May 26, 2005, 02:31:09 AM It's just about pet hates isn't it really?
It doesn't waste time at all, a flick of the dealers wrist? I understand folks just don't like it but it ain't a hardship is it? Ian Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Colchester Kev on May 26, 2005, 07:54:03 AM It doesn't waste time at all, a flick of the dealers wrist? Now that made me really laugh out loud ;D Title: Re: Any thoughts on the poker million rivercam ? Post by: Decider on May 26, 2005, 11:53:28 AM It wastes time in the sense that folk sit and discuss what might have been for a while after they see. Theres the time it takes for someone to ask to see, and for others to agree etc... Depending on who's at the table this can take a while ;-)
It only really happens when someone folds and the winner decides to show their cards, I don't see it that often otherwise. So if the winner doesn't show, whats the point of rabbit hunting. I do agree though, if you let folk rabbit hunt it gives them information on your hand and what you didn't have. The more information they have on you the worse it is for you. I don't want to give any more information than I have to. |
