Title: Hero Call or not???
Post by: Cas-Az on April 11, 2009, 01:33:11 PM
Playin £25 Double chance at Gala Casino, 60 or so runners.

7.5k Point stack + Double Chance, 25players left, average stack around 34k.

I have 39k. Blinds at 1/2k

Hero has 60k.

On the table i have a fairly loose image limping into pots a lot, folding when raised but only really showing down a big hand at showdown. Ive been fairly passive in blinds and have not really tried to be a defender.

The action gets checked around to the SB who limps in for 1k, i tank for a minute, decide to make a play + raise it to 4k.

I have  Th 6c.

SB tanks for a mo, then throws in 4k.

Board come's,  2s 4d 5d.

SB tanks for a minute, bets 8.5k, i state raise, + make it another 25k, am All-in.

Hero, tanks literally for about 4minutes, calls + tables   2h Tc.

he makes trips on the turn + its all over?

I was litterally stunned when he tabled his hand, ive been thinkin about the way it played out over the last week + have tried putting myself in his shoes, but i still cant find a call........

Anyone shed any light onto this call??

Cheers......

put on the old AK imo...

Ive thought about that, if he put me on AK would he want to risk 50% of his stack finding out if hes right or wrong? I could easily have an overpair in that spot, or pocket 3's, maybe even A4, A5, too risky IMO.......

Cheers lads, youve all been more than helpful......... Errrrrrm?????!!!!!

What are you looking for?

Someone to say that the guy who knocked you out was a donk, pat you on the head and say you're really good at the pokerz.

We charge 50p for that sort of service.

I would like someone who answers this question successfully to explain Fibonacci numbers to me and why they occur frequently in nature.

He is either a donk who can't laydown a pair, or a good player who has a read on you. I just re read the hand, how long does this hand take to play?

Not at all, im just looking for someone who's a bit more expirienced than me (which doesnt take a lot) to give me his/her opinion on how he called, his probable mindset, where he thought he was in the hand etc???

Not some wise a** response what just wastes my time reading it....... Ta

Cas-Az why cast yourself in the role of Villain in this mystery, and your oppo as the Hero? Do you play online while stroking a white cat and cackling like that villain out of Danger Mouse, or was it Bond? You need to be the hero here man. Also, Longy, the villain doesn't limp-call a 4k raise oop with 10-2 cos he has readz. He calls just....because. So the wise ass responses are actually worth reading and reflecting upon because they perfectly illustrate inexplicable chaos. You can't explain mental chaos properly and any attempt to do so incurs a cost of 50p.

Thanks for the response, i think........ I owe 50p, lol.......

I cast myself as the villain as i was bluffing + he made the right in call in that particular spot......

After playing 10-2 that way your oppo cold only be cast as the Hero if his name was Spewtastic Boy. Don't make the mistake of thinking he played it well just cos he was somehow right on this occasion. If you had a tight image and your oppo was ok at poker you would have played your hand well. As it was your image was bad and your oppo was worse so you didn't. Even so you still played it better than villain.

I like hands where oppo is a donk for risking 50% of their stack to find out if their read is right, but we can risk 100% of our stack finding out if our (largely unconfirmed to that point) read is right.

And why is it all over on the turn?  Just bink the 3 on the end.

Thats why i couldnt get my head around the call as it was for 50% of his stack, after speaking with people about it he must either have had a solid read on me or wasnt too bothered about the tourney with it only been a £25 Double Chance. Yeah i just meant to state my odds were slashed even more when he tripped on the turn, im not too good at hitting them 4 outters.......lol

I reckon he spanked you, to be honest. He just completely pwned you...it happens sometimes when you bluff.

It's like music to me  - sweet, soaring, transcendental, multaaaay stringed, euphoric trance, music, when I hear a bluff monkey at the table say 'how did you call that ?'

there is nothing to analyse the guy is obviously a fish and would never fold... Only thing, next time raise more preflop 6/7k probs has more of a chance of getting him off his hand, why try and bluff with T6 off aswell u want something that has potential to hit something postflop... both of you guys butchered the hand tbh. 50p mate!

I don't often play live, so my opinion may be a bit mute but from my limited experience.

GALA - the general standard in these Casino's I have visited is bad.  I think they all learned from a Gala Poker Master.

This is definitely the best way to endere yourself to the forum imo. Do you not see the irony of you posting on an internet forum, slagging off other people for posting on an internet forum.

Play higher obv.  A £25 live tourney is eqivalent to a 10 cent tourney online- ie: 90% of the field never fold.
