Title: Blind on Blind...
Post by: MC on April 11, 2009, 05:38:20 PM
Okay, it's been a looooong time since I played six max cash games, just getting into the groove now.

Obviously I'm prepared to stack off on this flop, but once the King hits am I really beating anything? The main hand I want him to have just got there. Can I fold or is this a shove?

Is flop play okay? I was intending to raise the turn whatever came at the time...

iPoker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) - iPoker (http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php) Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (http://www.flopturnriver.com)

saw flop

Hero (BB) ($94.22)
UTG ($51.35)
MP ($25.68)
Button ($62.74)
SB ($50.08)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Ad Qd
3 folds, SB bets $1.50, Hero raises to $5, SB calls $3.50

Flop: ($10) 8c Qs 4h (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $7, SB raises to $16.50, Hero calls $9.50

Turn: ($43) Kc: (2 players)
SB bets $18, Hero...............

I wouldn't worry too much about the King really. Do you think AK just got there?

I tend to donk off here and indeed find that his AK got there on the turn. (Or he had AA/KK already)

I probably flat here.

Not so much AK as KQ...

He only has $10 back if I flat, isn't a shove the same as a flat call here really?

oh yeah..sorry thought he had more back. yeah obv KQ definitely could have got there.

Shoving you only get called by a worse hand...a flat might lead him to spunk something stupid into you.

BTW, I'll be the first to admit that flatting might be really really bad...but I prefer it over shoving.

Depends on player. Calling the raise on the flop is the decision for me. If you think he can raise flop with less than 2 pair than call flop and get it all in no matter what.

If he is a typical TAG and only raises flop with 2 pair + then fold flop. The hands I'm worried about are AA/KK/QQ/Q8/88/44 to be honest. Not many folk raise the flop with KQ. If he is useless or v.good LAG and you have seen him turn up with underpair, dodgy queen or bluff then you should probably stack off.

I shove as he might donk call you with his bluff hands with one card to come to 'hit it' with something like AJ/A10, QJ and even small pairs.

Obv his range includes sets and hands that beat you but I still I think we need to get it in to get max value when we are ahead.

Didn't have a major read on the player davie, but at the time I was never folding to his flop raise based on his play...

I shoved the turn, you guys seem to have the right kinda instincts on his hand, he had KK...

In 6 max cash I think this is one of those spots where you should fold TPTK due to the fuzz rule unless you have some sort of read that villain is likely to raise flop with very little. Until shown otherwise I fold here to be honest after stacking off loads of times like this. Its rare to be shown anything less than an overpair.

If villain raises flop all the time with less then those guys stacks are generally quite easy to get eventually once you have the read.

It doesn't take long to work out when someone thinks you are weak and they can raise you on flop with air. Doesn't happen very often against a random in 6 max cash tho at 0.25/0.50 and calling a raise with TPTK is a losing play in this game as I discovered when running reports on my play with HEM to plug leaks.

I'm not suggesting its not exploitable because it totally is and I use it to exploit players I see who auto-fold in these spots aswell. This is one of those spots where live poker is much easier than online for making the correct decision.
