Although it's clearly preferable to find a date that the majority of mods/staff can make, I can't personally see the justification for avoiding any weekend that clashes with a festival or poker event (I presume that is the difficulty in finding a date?).  There's just something on nearly every weekend nowadays and the majority of 'ordinary' blondes who want to get involved in a bash will be unaffacted by such scheduling.  Those that are will have a choice to make, but I know which I'd pick :)up  A lot of people have also said they'd be prepared to pay extra juice on the tournament to cover costs.  Let's not let the blonde bash die!!

it's a good place to go with a lot of people and the casino can deal with an event like a blonde bash

when you get knocked out early you can just go to see strippers with evilpie and mr hopkin, ideal

Fair point, but it is still a shithole and a bigger shithole than the Luton and Walsall in my experience. I have never seen so many people in one place who looked like that they would be happy if it all ended now. It was a bank holiday weekend these people were meant to be enjoying themselves.

Doesn't mean i won't come to a bash held there and will probably enjoy it. In fact the best thing about Blackpool was the casino from memory.

Blackpool would be a great place for a bash.

Problem is logistics, no hotel rooms til October/November, and Blackpool aren't gonna want a bash then because its their leg of the GUKPT around the same time.

Just back from first visit to Alea Leeds - lovely casino and fairly large cardroom.  Would they have us?

Never been to Blackpool before - would like to go there too.  Basically, I'll go anywhere (as long as there is karaoke and 'karaoke', obv).

Done a quick check there are: good transport links, hotels in spitting distance of the casino, 5-a-side footy pitches, Nandos, karaoke and "karaoke".

loads of 5-a-side places in leeds, weetwood Leeds uni has about 20 pitches. I can book them anytime 4 quid a pop per player. Boy band vs rest of?

Its cleary got to be a round robin tourney, with a few teams (200 attend Blonde Bashes, im sure 30 of them are fit enough for 6 teams!)

it started out as a 5 a side game, which has turned into a call for a Blonde Bash, usually the blonde bash weekend has a footy tourney involving 4-6 teams.

so, is there going to be a push for a September Blonde Bash then?

I really hope so - any longer and it's going to be more than a year between bashes :(

So lets sort it for september time 

LEEDS Goals  try and get 6-8 teams and play a mini league play each other twice

them all to nandoes/pub

then to alea where we can have a good old game of poker with a twist once you get knocked out you have to sing karaoke and the person who knocked you out picks the song!!!!!   

Its not up to us mate, its a good bit of work for Mods to research (Casino's for Hiring for 200+ people, plus accomm. Quiz's etc etc) to get the ball rolling on a Blonde Bash

Lets see what people think first

FWIW I think Alea would probably be more than happy to have us. They put a lot of effort into trying to host all kinds of private events, be it corporate or social. Dave, cardroom manager, knows quite a few of us that post on here, and posts on here himself too occasionally, so he'd probably be up for it from the poker side.

What do Mods think?, The Bashes are a lot of work, and its their baby

The mods, specifically me, are actively trying to put a bash together for September.

Discussions with various venues, most of which are mentioned on this thread, afoot

- We'd like reg free, no charge for use of the cardroom, free buffet, dealer dealt, adequate capacity and good transport links.

We're busy, and things look slightly brighter. Really its been too long since the last bash but as everyone knows things were pretty hairy for a while. Now things are a bit more stable we can crack on

If blonde starts making actual real coin one that would be cool obv, but I would miss your 3,000 word posts explaining why it all isn't working.  :'(

Alea has its own priv cinema! ffs and dave the cardroom manager is top bloke :)

Alea has its own Face to Face cardroom! Also i think they would provide dealers and the food there is amazingly good and i think a buffet would be no problem. Transport wise Alea is situated close to the Bus and Train Stations and is not too far from the M62/M1 links. Also FREE PARKING!! in the multi storey!! There is also 2 hotels near by and i read on another forum (rock poker onlie i think!) that they did a discount for the ladies tour that has just gone as the organiser arranged it with them! Lets get it on for LEEDS!!

you might think that but many of us thought that all casinos would offer free food and poker to get 140+ players through the door and into the pit but many arent intrested

with the fact that only 13 people turn up at the moment im sure they would love 140+players

as i said you would think that but its not true in all cases with some casinos asking for outrageous payments and others not intrested in the slightiest

untill tighty speaks to the casinos we can not rule them in or out

best if we get a short list up with all the casinos willing to give us there card room for free then pick the best one!!!

Im not fussed if its leeds, somewhere in the middle of the country would be nice, there are tonnes from Scotland on Blonde now, and somewhere in the middle would be idea for the majority of travellers.

After attending almost all the bashes so far..and from where I am  sat Alea aint a bad choice. .... it caters for all..and like said previously has a has a seperate card room, which can be very benificial at a bash.

personally i would goto bristol,newcastle,leeds any scottish casino,brighton,southanpton (major choice as i can visit my brother and faimily) portsmouth, birmingham, walsall, luton (good choice if we can go back to that bar on a friday but please dont tip me out the chair again laxie),manchester or liverpool

prefer not to goto cardiff (pain in ass to get to) blackpool no wheelchair karoke, swansea cant even find the nearest airport
